[quote=\"des8low\"]Hi!
I'm new here XD. I got 258+2 for PSLE and I intend to put NJC as my second choice. First choice would be RGS. What's my chances to get in NJC? Also, why do we have to stay in the school for a term very year? That is my BIGGEST question.
But basically, the reasons for boarding:
- Sustained development of self-identity and building up of character
- Rigorous leadership development in all domains ā Intellectual, social, physical, aesthetic and cultural
- Nurturing of community awareness and rootedness
- Capacity building through non-examinable components
Boarding is really fun though.
Imagine living together with all your peers without having the need to separate with your family (since you get to go home on weekends).
But i'm not too sure, you can check http://www.moelc.moe.edu.sg/index.html
As for the boarding fees, it's based on your property type.
It's differs from hdb to condo to landed, etc.
This year the boarding fees were more than last year's because MOE decided to give us less subsidy. And the fees will also increase even more next year due to the same subsidy reason. -

1) Can you share how much is the boarding fees for HDB, Condo and Landed?
2) Between, can you advise if there is any sec 1 preparation needed before term starts? I understand from some sec 1 parents that HMT can be quite tough. -

I seriously forgot about the fees this year

I'm not sure if it was 200+ or 300+ for HDB (btw, i think those 4-room & 5-room ones are diff. from the executive flats) and 400+ for condo. Something like there, can't really remember ><
For myself, i didn't had any preparation before school started. And for sec 1, language arts (english) was mostly like essay writing, poems kind of stuff. So it should be quite easy to adapt because primary schools are doing it too. Other subjects are rather easy to cope with too
As for HMT, if really needed, can just read through the textbook first. Otherwise, I think it should be fine because the HMT teachers go through topic by topic, so it's actually quite easy to do.

It seems that the school doesn't actually have enough classrooms for more than 8 classes.zsqchx:

This was what was told by the school at the last open house, I attended :boogie: The total intake is 250 for 2012 and 25 per class. If they have only 8 classes then max should be 200 and I wonder where they are getting extra 2 classes. What about the annex building that is being opened for SH students-sharing with them maybe!
