welcome to Singapore JodieFoster πŸ™‚ There are a number of good preschools that the mummies and daddy over here recommends. One important factor is which part of the island you are staying and what are the things you look for in a preschool.

There are several treads discussing the various preschools. Parents also leave their comments on various preschools in the portal listing section.

Generally, I will look for a location near where I stay or work then zoom down on other criteriors (e.g. curriculum, environment, etc )

Here are some articles with tips on looking for a childcare

hi, I have visited Yuquan pre-school myself and I must say, the principal is a very good marketing person. She will show us the works of their students in Chinese (except that she always shows the works of one particular student). Basically, the school is strong in Mandarin. They will require their children to memorise δΈ‰ε—η»οΌŒ 成语, 彦语 etc as the principal said that it's good for children to memorise these idioms even if they don't know the true meaning cos when they reach primary level, they will be bogged down by more homework, projects, CCAs and will not have time to memorise these idioms. Once memorised, they will be able to utilise them in compositions with much ease.

However, you need to see for yourself their English standard and also that the cc is in CBD area so you need to pay for ERP twice a day if you pick them up youselves as they do not offer transport services.

            Hi Lucky,

I had spoken to the Principal (Yuquan) & she suggested me to put my child in the childcare so that can learn good strong English, Chinese Maths & Science.

I also doubt how good is thier English Language especially they are like in a chinese environment.

Any particular questions that I should ask when I'm heading down the Yuquan Language & Preschool? Maybe I should ask them show me how good is thier English Language. Agreed with you thier marketing strategy very strong, keep suggesting until I almost blur
            . 😒

What I have learnt from the principal is that the reason she opens up the childcare is because she cannot find a suitable childcare for her own daughter who is now 7 years old and studying at Nanyang Primary.

Any particular reason you are so attracted to the childcare besides it's strong emphasis on Chinese language ?

Maybe you can request for a trial class and assess the situation yrself. Also, find out if you child enjoy the school.

If the answers came back to be positive, then at least it gives you the confidence to put yr child there.

My 1st intention is to put my DD & DS for some kind of chinese enrichment for those 1 time per week session! It is then the Principal suggested that I can consider Childcare so that DD can lean a lot of things like English, Phonics, Chinese, Maths, Science & other miscellaneous program.

Ha,ha maybe see whether Yuquan always produce the same student with the good marks where I would be heading down thier centre this week.
You are right, perhaps see whether can have a trial see how good is it then!

BTW, does all childcare able to let us have trial? That is something very new to me.

Good ones WILL offer trial as long as they have space.
Putting up a child in childcare is a really big decision...
Having the option to go for trials is more cost efficient
and effective in evaluating the childcare services plus
                    da child's response/participation with centre's activites,
routines, makan and also sleep (for full day).. or else
messy lah with all da refund or pro-rated or not happy
abt any initial arrangement / agreement when things
                    may not turn out positive.

                        Hi Buds,

Still evaluating whether to put the childin the Yuquan Preschool (Middle Road). Don't seem they offer any trial for that. Yes really it is important decision as need to arrange the logistics (Home to Middle Road, Workplace to Middle Road). :? 😒

Maybe should forget the idea where just remain in the current kindergarten. :
