      Ms tay:

      Hi funx3
may I know if the students score 200 or above qualified for NA stream ?
      Just curious
Normally 200 is the cut-off guideline.
But U May Find some Sch's COP for Express could be above that ....
      Like 20X to 22X.
And Some May be below that at 19X.

All Depends on S1 posting, Who Apply What at Which Sch 😉 😉

If the student scored 200 does he/she able to get in that sch?

                    sunflowermom:

                    Hi, need some advice here.

My Friend's DS scored 198 for the psle. He has an option to choose between E and NA. During the S1 postings, he chose NA and put BBGH as 1st choice as many advised my friend that it is better to be a big fish in small pond than a small fish in big pond.

However, these few days my friends kinda of regret as she felt that NA will waste a year as compared to E. She was thinking to appeal to FuChun Sec in Woodland for E stream.

May I know what is the pro n con for NA? How is FuChun Sec? Can any parent shared their similar experience?

                    Hi sunflowermom,

My boy Was in the NA stream. And HAve No Regret having him there.
He Enjoyed his Whole 5 years in NA Tremendously. Learning at his own pace (aka NA Pace 😉 😉 ).

Got in as almost Bottom of Cohort (aka PSLE), but is within top 10% within sec 1 in his sch. He's Happy and thrives well with the slower pace of teaching, without stress thru ALL his 5 years there. He could have transfered to Express stream in year 3, but he prefers staying put.

Tell your fren don't worry about the extra 1 year in NA. He'll make his new sets of frens in the same cohort. What is more beneficial is the learning journey. If our kids R happy and able to absorb all that is being taught, what's 1 extra year in sec sch?

By the way, my boy is happily in his 1st year Poly now ....
And He survives his sec sch without any tuition. 😂 😂

My cousin who is also in Normal stream after PSLE result, then to poly accountancy and now in SMU year 1 today. In fact she did so much better today as compared to my other cousin who went to express and JC. We believe she is a late bloomer.

Yah I remember what ds principal said that many of their ex pupils got around 200 for PSLE went to neighbourhood schools but during O levels scored straight As. It's on ds school's website. There are always other routes to success.

                        Augmum:

With regards to my previous posting that A* is NOT PREFIX at raw marks of 91 and above at PSLE, unlike sch exams.
(I am very doubtful that my gal 's pri sch teacher,
as well as teachers from various schs who had told their pupils' parents,
and all of these teachers had provided us the wrong info),
my observations of the surrounding PSLE pupils, deepened my belief ,
                        i seek clarification from MOE.........

Quoted MOE’s reply, would like to share with u, parents here …….
                        Thank you for your email.

We would like to share that the cut-off marks for the various grades are determined by the Ministry of Education after a consideration of various factors.
However, standards are maintained in the determination of cut-off marks for the various grades and the cut-off marks are confidential.

Fortunately, i still have my common sense in place...... 😉 😂
Thanks for posting your clarification with Moe with regards to the A* marks. This question has been in my mind when often heard of friends of mine been talking and discussing about students getting A*/A in psle. i have been a silent reader in this forum as i want to find out more about the exams system here with 3 girls, especially psle, the big talk in town. Thanks to all parents who have been sharing selflessly all the tips and facts about psle.
