Hi icedlemontea, if your kid needs OT please continue. It is a long process you need time to see results. Do not stop even it is expensive to do so for the sake of your kid's future. Money can earn back. You and you hubby need to work out what's the priority.

Please stick to one centre for your kid to receive treatment. Do not run here and there. Your kid will be stress. You will be stress too because you can't see results. Your child needs to build the trust of the OT to help him. Do not destroyed the trust being builded.

On your side together with your hubby, continue to give the support that's what your child needs.

OT can only do it once a week. Afterall, you see your kid daily. That's where your kid needs you more. After each session, always ask question how you can help when you go home.

That's your homework. Of course, you and your child must feel comfortable with the OT. You may try one or two. Don't stress yourself out.

There is this place I just send my girl for Child Play Therapy in Toa Payoh.
You may try calling them at 6354 1180 under Care Corner Counselling Centre. Through play, they are able to assess your child's needs.

They charge between S$30-50 per hour.

This sounds very bad indeed!! If he can beat them up at 12, he may end up killing them one day!! Your brother may be right in a way to say his child is different from other children. But this only mean that the child needs to be guided a different way, not that the child can have his way all the time!!


I actually agree that they should let someone else step in. If he does commit murder one day, they will be as much at fault for not doing something while they still can. A child that cannot take rejections need to build resilience. I can go on and on, but I think it is pointless if the parents cannot see the light.

Non compliant children can be hard to handle, especially if very intelligent. They smell out your ulterior motives and briberies. They examine your words and actions for contradictions and use them against you. Parenting them takes a lot of conscious effort and self examination and constant reflection. Open communication is key. They remind me of Sun Wu Kong in journey of the west 2010 edition. T

Yes, I have to agree this is the first time I have heard a 12 year old boy beat up adults, and yet quiet. Wondering what's stewing. I also agree some professional help is needed. Are those available? I also think the parents need counselling themselves, not just the child. Perhaps get them to call Kaleidoscope, because I know they counsel adults as well. I know it is hard to get an appointment, though.

Many children with CD end up with legal problems, starting of course with BPC as teens. I really do hope I am awfully wrong.

There is professional help available. Look out for them. And do so urgently, if you cannot find anything on the web, try some books. I hope the boy will be on the road to recovery from whatever hurt and hang ups.

Is there any good Psychologist for teenagers?My friend’s son has problem too after going to JC.He has a few pimples on his face but he can’t take it that his face has them.He’ll look at the mirrior very frequently and even asked his mum send him for facial,specialist or other treatments.His mum did and spent a bomb on his face but didn’t help.Due to his pimples,he failed his JC1 and need to retain.Lately,he even want to commit sucide as he can’t a solution for his pimples.


He’s from a boy school and is very keen to have a girlfriend.He said due to his pimples,none of the girls like him.

Anyone can help?My friend’s going crazy !!!

[CHICC Profiling]

From the date of birth of the child, we can determine his universal character, which does not change. That is the 'nature' part of everyone, including the child. What can be changed are the 'nurtured' traits, which affect his personality and behavior. When we talk about 'nurturing' our child, we are trying to influence his behaviour, which then shape his personality, but his 'character' cannot change. If you know how to align your 'nurturing' efforts based on his 'character', that is when you can really help him to enhance his potential.


Our profiling methods have integrated many scientifically based research/methods of profiling out there in the market, done by many experts from the East to West. The more well-known types of profiling methods include DISC Profiling, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) etc. However, all require the person to answer a certain set of questions, before they can determine your profile. Self-bias can also skew the results. Logically, these methods CANNOT be used to profile a child, as he cannot answer the questions!

In our case, we do not need your child to answer ANY questions, but yet, we can determine his character. The accuracy level is much higher, based on the profiles of more than 10,000 people that we have done.

I have also done the profiling on my own children (just 5 years old) and also for many other parents. All are equally amazed at the accuracy and the simplicity of the method. However, DO NOT take my word for it. I encourage you to come for our Jan workshops to discover and conclude for yourself. A free report of your child will also be provided for all participants. Sorry har, kitty2, I just have to show your post to my son who is of the same age. He commented something I think is quite true. He said this is a first world problem, if the boy is in Somolia, he will be fighting for survival and not worry about this.

Hm... it sounds funny and 幸灾乐祸, but I think there is some truth in it. I can guess that your friend is probably from at least middle class, or the child has nothing to worry in life except his studies and himself, expecting his family to sacrifice everything they have for him. Perhaps too 'free'. If he were my son, I'd get him a job at Ikea, take away his pocket money, and then go and pay for the facial himself.

Yet again, this story is not new to me. I have a beautician friend who told me of a customer who would be there for facial everyday, and has gone for numerous plastic surgery. She is never happy with the way she looks. We thought she did not need a beautician or a cosmetic surgeon, she needs psychological help, and yes, she is too free. If she were working in the farm, perhaps she will have less time to look into the mirror.

There again, a suicide threat is never to be taken lightly.

Thanks for your reply.My friend's not well off,she's a very poor thing.Her husb's not working and she has to support the whole family.She doesn't earn alot as to please his son and hope he'll recover,she paid for the facial.His son's still not contented!!!!Everyday,will the parents,he wants to commit sucide.He even cried over his pimples!!!!My friend is afraid that he may commit sucide and have no peaceful sleep at night but her son's sleeping well.She wonders whether is he threatening her?

She's really very stress up and going crazy!!!!

Deminc, 2ppaamm: Thanks for the advises. Actually i can share only what i heard. I believe my bro would not come to me if he’s not very desperate. Its not a glorious thing about his boy so he did not share alot with me as well.


The obstacle now is getting his son to agree to seek professional help.

They actually tried reading up and research for ways. One of which includes hypnosis treatment but my nephew refused to try.

Absolutely agree that his parents need counselling too.

Sounds like this 药家鑫 is suffering some kind of OCD and/or dysmorphophobia. Could he be trying so hard to protect his ‘perfect’ image that he panicked and that drove him to murder someone he knocked down? Sad…
