Anyone can recommend a female piano teacher for my 5yr old son in Jurong or nearby. As we only have one keyboard at home so prefer to learn at the teacher's place on weekday afternoon. I just need a creative and patient teacher who can motivate my son to appreciate music and the interest in playing the piano. Please email me [email protected] if you have any. Thanks!

My children love to play piano but their current piano teacher is not so committed (part time teaching piano and holding a full time job). Can you recommend good piano teacher for west area?

        thanks in advance!

              Mr Big,

I would consider teaching music at home if the children is only 2 year old. Check out this software. My daughter is using this software to learn to play piano. She started playing simple games from the software at 2. Right now at 3 year and 10 months old she is playing classical pieces and advance songs. Check out the video in the website of many young children playing using this software. Here is a video of my daughter playing her keyboard at home.

                Hi,

I’m looking for a reputable music school for my child.

He’s been with Yamaha but found out later that the teacher is not that professional and hence withdrawal.

I don’t mind continuing with Yamaha but will need recommendations on the teachers. Don’t mind private teachers or other music schools too.

Please advise! Would appreciate your help!

                  Hi Winnie,

I plan to join Yamaha Tampines individual class for my 7 years old son, which teacher is good ? your son is currently with which teacher ? Do you know Julainie or Angeline ?
                  Need your advice. Thanks.

And I found another teacher at pasir ris : http://pasir-ris-piano-lesson.blogspot.com/2010/07/piano-lessons-for-children.html

                    hi Irene,

My son's teacher at Yamaha was male, Mr Dan Oh.

Generally he's ok, but I decided to pull him out of Yamaha as the timing was not very convenient for me, & I find them very inflexible, even regarding make up classes. So, it got quite frustrating.

I have no idea about the 2 teachers you asked about.

After Yamaha, I hired a teacher who comes to our house.

So far so good, (it's almost a year now) 😄

Oh...I just saw your link, & that's the teacher I hired for my son now! hehe...

                    She's nice, pretty, & punctual.

So far, no problem at all... & if I or she cant make it (which is very rare), then we'll arrange another day/timing for the make up class.

You can give her a call, for a trial class (at her house), or if you prefer convenience, you can ask her to come to your house for the lessons, at an additional $20 fee.

                    Hope this helps 🙂

                      Hi Winnie,

Thank you very much for your info.
In what grade your son is doing now for the piano ? taken any exam so far ?
How well this teacher in term of preparing the piano exam for the child ? Is theory included in the 1 hour session ?

Since Yamaha can’t give me the time I prefer, I think I might end up with the teacher your son is with now, but need more info about her hehe…kiasu a bit haha !

                        hi Irene,

My son is currently doing grade 2 piano, & has never taken any exams so far.

Theory is included, & he's doing the 45 mins lesson... but usually, the teacher will stay on for almost an hour.

According to her, she's trying to prepare him for the exam for end of this year, or early nx year (cant remember which), & letting him skip grade 1, & work for grade 2 immediately.

When he first started with her, it's grade 1 book + theory.

Since he has never taken any exams, so I'm not really sure how's the preparation. But, I'm not too concerned abt the piano exam, as I just want him to learn for as long as he can.

He's not very dedicated in learning piano, & I had to remind him to practice etc. But yet, I dont wish for him to give up so soon, since he's still young & may regret it in the future.

So, I'd like to encourage him to just do his best, practice etc... & perhaps around P5, when he's older & more mature (hopefully), & can play more beautiful pieces, then he'll be motivated to do it seriously.

                        So, there... 🙂

                        Hehe....
