      Hi Sleepy,

I have been to several popular bookstores before and didn’t see the Higher Chinese version. From what I know, for every chapter there is one section which is more challenging. Students are required to edit the passage with mistakes "highlighted" to them. This is what the higher chinese student needs to do for their exam format. Think most probably they have included the higher chinese segment into it.

I found out that P1 next yr will be exposed to the new assessment modes already, so am restraining myself, just getting the core.

Here's the link on information about changes to the teaching of Mother Tongue.

            http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/2011/01/enhancing-the-teaching-and-testing-of-mtl.php

Here's the sample of the test items

            http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/press/files/2011/annex-b-mtl-review.pdf

The changes to the oral format is the reason why I did not buy any oral guide materials. I was not sure then when the P1s will be exposed to the new assessment modes.

I hope the school will organise a briefing session on these new test items. I'm not sure how to help DD1 for oral if they are using video starting in P1

Only affecting those taking 2017 PSLE and beyond. Those earlier ones are NOT affected.

πŸ˜‚ after reading the press release and the sample test items, I'm not totally clear, so hoping there's some sort of briefing for parents. The only part that I'm sure about is the oral component. The pre 2017 is using pictures for a child to describe the scene etc. 2017 PSLE, will be using video stimuli but I do not know how that will be carried out.

looks like MOE will be busy with changing MTL, then other subjects will remain the same?

no news on other subjects, unless I missed cos sometimes there's no time to watch or read heehee

                        I think so too.
My tutor told me there will be some changes with P1/2 oral next year. She will be helping me find out more when school reopens.
