Hi Jedamum,
I only bought the one from MC for P4 DD1. Can you share how you find between the Longman book compares with the MC book?

I bought the Longman for my P1 DD2..yet to...open ceremony!

we got the longman first followed by MC. i just let my boy read both on his own; he did not do so well for synthesis in his SA2 cos they were tested on connectors the teacher did not go through in class before (those not so straight forward connectors). i asked him which he prefers, he said the MC one but could not tell me the reason. i like longman's clear layout, but find the exercises a bit too few. so trying out casco for a change (i see some of the questions has '*' to denote higher level, so trying them out).

DD1 has not much exposure on S&T in school and I am starting to get as she moves up to upper primary :scared:

I become obsessed in these threads already.
At least from here, I come to know what are the available books around. Also through these threads, with the parents views and comments on the books they're using, we more or less know which book will be better for our kids. As mentioned by Champion, every kids are unique, so different books work for different kids.
For science, I think its all right to get a bit more as PSLE will test from p3 to 6. Can be use for 4 years so its ok.

Champion, my elder one is going p4 next year. Same as yours. Younger one p3 next year. But when I visited the forum on preparing for PSLE, I became scare. I can feel the stress and anxiety there. So I had better get some advices now, rather than regret later that I had not act earlier.

I saw quite a number of you focussing on S&T (apart from other sections). Can I check if S&T is a big thing in exams? I mean typically how many questions and points for this section? Sorry, not familiar with exam format cos my child is P1 next year

Thanks, Champion. I did take a look at some of those above. For the learners comprehension, I personally don't like the fonts of the word. So already bias. Success in comprehension, find fonts are small and very dry kind of passages.

All are my personal views only.

For Cloze, has not compare yet. The rest I'll look through in details the next time I visit Popular. Was given the 4 in one by one mummy whose kid did not even touch it.

Anyone to comment on Conquer Comprehension, Grammar & Vocabulary by Teachers@work after using them? What about the Casco ones?

Conquer Compre is a good book, but it doesn't have pictures. It's ideal for students who appreciate the written word, but it may be boring for students who prefer looking at pictures.

As some of the parents have said, every child is different. If your child prefers pictures to words, you can consider getting The Ultimate Guide to Mastering Compre by PanPac. It has illustrations and introduces one skill at a time, so it's more doable for those who are visual learners.

For science, there is really no harm getting slightly more bcos you will be using both upp and lower block to revise from to time. I have 2 brand new lower block assessment books on my shelf, 2 upp block science and 2 PSLE science for revision to \"open ceremony\" in July. Several times, we have been revising either P3/4 or P5/6. Come P5, everything taught in P3 will be tested in CA1-SA2. If cant finish, can keep for my younger one. No wastage.
