      MintyMin:
SAHM.. DS is only interested in reading books like u say.. comics.. or books with lots of pic.. he will usually browse it thru juz the pictures.. n will tell me.. he is done reading.. :slapshead: :stupid:

minty the other moms all commented already, but i wanna say most boys are like that. they tend to prefer non-fiction and comics appeal a lot to them. so do silly things and toilet jokes.

i think for starters it's ok whatever that interests him let him read, even if comics or whatever, then once it is a habit, introduce other books gradually?

if my boys have a choice, they'd read about the army (not stories but facts) or vehicles or insects. that kind of thing. last time, usually to get them interested in a story, i'd read the first few pages to them then leave it hanging somewhere very exciting. cliffhanger effect. then i'd suddenly have to finish a chore.

after that, i will peek from the kitchen and they'd be trying hard to read the next few pages. šŸ™‚
