      Hi buds

He has attended a few phonics lessons, teacher feedback that he knows almost all the sounds (s'times he is alittle confused over 1-2 letter sounds) - he is doing 3-letter blending at each lesson now e.g. cab, tab etc.

I am glad he is looking forward to his class now as the teacher was really nice and engaging. I thk he is also v curious of the montessori materials placed at the low shelves...
Given a choice...hmm.... i would love him to study in a montessori environment....

Somehow I did not manage to get to see many phonics reader books at Popular .. maybe I shd travel to Bras Basah branch which shd hv one of the most collections...
I only managed to get the following phonics readers books fr Pelangi which i thk it is good enough for one who is starting to do blending.
      Its only $3 per copy!...Set of 12.

Also want to recommend another set of books i bought from Growing Fun 6 yrs ago (still avail) - the WOW book series - which i thk it's great and fun to read for beginners.
I have bot afew sets for my frens' kids who like them alot too!

      http://i40.tinypic.com/2czas88.jpg\">

Hmm i thk i shd post on the Fun Materials, Books & Games for phonics thread to \"revive\" the thread... hv been quiet for almost half a yr! :boogie:

:thankyou: for introducing the alternatives to books - I will def try to introduce the games that you have recommended on your blogs/threads.

        šŸ•ŗ

I am not sure if it is due to the fact that he is an active boi boi, i find that his attention span is really short so it is not easy to keep him interested in a game for long.
So far I have tried puzzles, snaps, shapes games (mostly the interesting ones fr Growing Fun) etc.
However strangely, he can sit down properly to listen to my reading and will ask me to read 3 books in a row and some are really long stories and I do get really tired, esp trying to tell the story in an engaging / interesting way.

I m DEF not the most interesting story teller (I normally speak in a flat tone that many people has mistaken me for a man since teenage yrs... ) but I try my very best to read, even if I am exhausted.
So I am constantly looking out for interesting books for him..
However he is still alittle resistent to read on his own, although I will prompt him, praise him if he does.
Hope he has more confidence to read after attending the phonics class... :rahrah: :rahrah:

Pelangi phonics books are perfect for starters like ur boi boi. Not tt expensive as well. I love the Innovative Kids n have collected all of them (full set) over time. Slightly more expensive but nicely packaged, lovely illustrations (sketchy lifelike instead of cartoonish) and humorous story line. I used the Pelangi readers n activity sets for my girls n my students. I have recommended them (My Preschool World) here as well. šŸ˜‰

The writer has Montessori background so the content used in them are very relevant n similarly systematic. I loike! :please:

heehee, I also have the Pelangi phonics books, bought them elsewhere at sales so cheaper too.

I find the content closer to local context šŸ˜„

But I do not have 1 of the titles can't find it anywhere.

The publisher also have singular/pural, preposition etc titles which I find good and more importantly cheap cheap too

              Hi buds

Ya i saw your recommendation on the \"My Preschool World\" in the other thread but I couldnt find it in Popular... in fact when I went Popular that day with my long long list of the books recommended by you and other KSP, the Popular saleslady looked at my list and said \"No, dont hv.. No, dont hv..... No, dont hv.........\"

So end up I bought the only avail set - \"My Phonics Reader\". But no regrets, i thk its a good buy..
And so coincidence, just a day after my purchase, my DS's phonics teacher asked me to buy that exact same set of readers for him to read at home! :rahrah:

              buds:
Wuah-seh! :yikes: You ARE very diligent all right.. :salute:
Thought you saving them for the weekends. šŸ˜†
Happy attacking! I know now where your
year-end bonus will be going to. :moneyflies:
              Year-end bonus?!.... I wish....

                Hi iLoveChubby,

I think the My Phonics Readers might be the revamp version of My Preschool world, I'm guessing becos I saw the words my preschool world there.

As for the books, it was bought during sales, plus membership discount, so was cheap. Not sure if they still have stock. You can call, I bought it from http://babymeadows.com.sg/

The other titles are under the series Little Gammar Books. The titles in the series include books on actions, opposites, prepositions, singular/pural, parents and young, gender, comparison adjectives, collective nouns, homonyms and compound words.

oops. just realised that the phonics reader that you bought might be different from mine, so yours might not be from My preschool world

                      Hi SAHM_Tan!

Thanks for the info! šŸ˜„ but i thk the website no longer sells the series...
Just that day I came across a parent selling the Little Grammar Books at the Garage Sale... I thought i was fast enough to PM her but apparently not fast enough... sold out super duperly fast!.... šŸ˜ž

I shall see how this phonics readers series work on my DS first before I buy more. He is alittle unwilling to read aloud (fear of making mistakes i thk) but i made a \"deal\" with him every nite - I will read him his fav book or books every nite if he can read one book/few pages everyday for me... :please:
