Appeal Secondary One Posting

Appeal carries this uncertainty, and parents and kid will have the dilemma of this.I was told that we should inform the school we are reporting to that we are appealing to another school then we need not buy school books and school shoes.
But my concern is wont the kid be very odd to report to the school on 3 jan wearing its primary school uniform ? Will he feel outcast ? The school I talked to said it is quite common so there is nothing to be alarmed, but I'm still a bit worried. Can parents who has done this be able to advise what's it like and whether the child will feel outcast, or it is a common sight and hence nothing special.
I think most schs will inform you of the appeal succes by end Dec, with some cases overflowing to Jan. Personally, I will not recommend to go to reporting sch in pri sch uniform in Jan. Yes, if you do not wish to buy the uniforms / textbooks by tomorrow, you can still delay till end Dec. But there has to be some closure for the kid to progress next yr and settle down to learning. By end Dec, if you do not hear from the appeal sch, you should go ahead and acquire the uniforms and textbooks for your kid to start his sch. This is just my personal opinion. -

Why don't you just buy one set of secondary school uniform so that your kid won't feel so odd on the first few days of school? It doesn't send a very good vibe if your kid attends school in his primary school uniform, giving the impression that he doesn't want to be in the school. What if his appeal doesn't come through?I was told that we should inform the school we are reporting to that we are appealing to another school then we need not buy school books and school shoes.

As for books, you can wait til end Dec to purchase them. A lot of schools use similar books so even if you purchase them chances are they're in the booklist of your appeal school too. -

That is a good suggestion by jtoh. Maybe can also tell your child to say that there is no more stock for uniform of his/her size so forced to wear primary school uniform temporarily.

so… do we have to buy the bks and uniform if we r appealing to another school/
-
Thanks jtoh and Pen88n, very sound advice. Bfore start of school, I’d at least buy a set of school uniform and compare the booklist and get some of the common books. I hope that we can be notified early as we are off by COP 1 pt only. Really hope to settle him the earliest we can.

Better not. It may be a waste if your appeal is successful and the textbooks are different. -
