Mummies,

any good Chinese dvds cartoons to recommend?
my boys just finished doeramon this holidays. 🙂

Hi jedamum,
I have no chinese dvds cartoons to recommend. This holidays, ds2 and I have started reading this serie of chinese story books by 李光福. There are 16 books in the series. You may want to look under J LGF in the library. It is a chapter book with han yu pin yin. Interesting story with good moral values and easy to understand.

hi piggylalala,
thanks!
i let my boy read YHY (Yang Hong Ying) animal stories books this holidays...short stories cos he said XiaoMaoRiJi is not interesting.
I also do not really like xiaomaoriji. I find it too tough for my ds. Yr boy is reading the short stories by YHY? Can share one or two titles with me? Thanks.

this holidays, i managed to get him to finish 3 thin books out of the 5 titles in this series (still looking for the rest in the library). quite like this series cos it has HYPY and is quite thin.

Wow Jedamum, your DS can still conquered 3 Chinese titles, DD can't even finish 1 chinese title after 5 weeks :slapshead: She can finish her favourite English book in even 2 days but just dread picking up that Chinese book to finish it. :slapshead:

these books are really quite thin; only <80pages each and with HYPY and the words not too small, so still managable. i gave him target to finish a book a week (although interested readers should be able to finish a book a day). i told him if i don't see him reading CL book everyday, i don't play card/board games with him for that/or next day. lolz....
(now that he prove that he can finish 80pgs a day, i will use that as a gauge for thicker books..heehee...he is tasked to read a 160pg book by the same author and i had given him 2 weeks up to end of the yr to finish. then he asked what if he can't finish what will i do....i was stunned for a while then took a gamble and said if he can't finish, then i don't borrow anymore for him and let him swim on his own for his CL. luckily he still got a bit kiasuim in him. haha...so he said he'll try to keep to schedule. 😓)

you no need to 😓 la. yours is a gepper...which i think exams will be different from mainstream up until before PSLE. just focus on attaining 80% overall and then can DSA-ed into preferred sch.
