Oh dear, ds only got 1 pe shirt and 1 pair of PE shorts (primary school) that are still wearable. I didn't want to buy this year cuz it's his last year. So how? Can he wear any black/blue shorts?

My friend's DS is going for the camp. He said he will ask the maid to go to collect the dirty clothes from the young master everyday evening before 6pm.

Please tell him not to do that! That will embarrass his son immensely. Imagine every evening your maid shows up to pick up your dirty clothes. It's just 3 days. Haven't the boys been to camp in P5 before, where they have to sleep in the outdoors? You mean the maid waited outside the campsite for him everyday too? It'll be fun. Tell your friend to relax.

Exactly. Haven't all our kids been to p5 camp before? That's compulsory. And some have stayed overnight in school for camps or even gone overseas trips, right? My younger boy really wore a certain few pieces of clothes for a 9-day trip and didn't touch the rest of the clothes in luggage the whole trip. Also survived wat. Also we all still *shake head* at him. Luckily late autumn, temperatures from 0-10deg C, so not smelly.[/quote]I asked him the same question. He said, during his DS P5 camp, his DS did not stay overnight. In the end of the first day, went home already.

As for oversea trip, parent will follow to be the helper as parents were in PSG. If parents are not allow, DS will not go.

        Is this common?

Your friend sounds over-protective. This is worrying especially as the boy will eventually have to go for NS. Or is your friend planning to get him out of NS somehow?

How does the boy react to the actions of his parents?

Well, for p5 camp, I guess some may have given MC and said not able to go too! Might not even really be ill. Overseas trip, I remember that if the child is p5 and above, usually parents are asked NOT to go. Maybe their school different. Altho' I have heard of parents who go along on their own just so they can be in the same city. However, I've only heard this of parents whose child need medication, eg. for asthma - so it's better to be more cautious.

Sadly, some parents do not know when to let go.

HI, my son registered RI, they will have a camp. A question: will they wash their dirty clothes everyday? Or they will keep the dirty clothes of those days in the bag until coming back home for washing.

I do not know friend's DS very well, meet him a few times. Friend's DS was in basketball school team and out going, very smart, scored 268 for PSLE. Should not have any problem for NS. Guess it is just the parent issue. Do not know when to let go.

I think it is quite common, I have also seen similar case happen in my DS school. Everyday, the father was seen in school in the morning, break time and after school.
