Hi, another mummy whose boy would be joining GEP in NH next yr. I am at CCK, hv the same concern with regards to travelling to NH. We r expected to wait for the sch bus @~6:10am. Heard there's a pte bus that wouldn't come so early. Any parent @CCK/Bt Panjang knows? Thanks. 🙂

When I called up NH last wee, I was told the pte bus goes to areas which the main bus operator does not operate. I'm not sure how accurate this info is cos I have not verified it. You can call the school to ask for the contact no. of the pet bus operator and verify with them directly.

Just wondering is it feasible to do car pooling within cck/bt pnj area to NH?

Seems like quite a no of GEP kids from CCK/Bt Panjang going to NH next year. Distance is really is problem, I was told on some days they have to attend classes in the afternoon, e.g. PSLE, PSLE Oral, Listening Compre, etc, so have to send kids to school in the afternoon.....

There's another bigger problem. Coming home timing. I hv a neighbour who has had 3 boys in NH (though 2 already graduated, left with #3 in TAG class) shared that they never take the return home trip as their CCA end at 5+pm. She has been fetching them home from sch.

However from next yr onwards, she would let this #3 boy take the direct bus 188 home. My boy could not join him everyday unless they hv same CCA and enrichment activities, etc. (impossible!)

So shall we (CCK/Bt Panjang parents) here whose children in NH GEP next yr form an informal gp? On those days when our kids stay back for GEP and would go home directly they could go back together. (by bus or cab) or arrange for car pool to take turn fetching them?

Pls pte email me at [email protected] if you r keen. Of course we would only get more details like GEP stay-back days, aft the orientation.

          Thanks.

I quite like the idea. But aft discussing with hubby there is a bigger problem, i.e. coming home trip. Pls see my post.

However I'm open to the idea of car pool to a sch. But in Jan 2012 I would let my boy take the sch bus until things are more settled.

Yes I managed to get the contact of the pte bus operator from a P6 student during the GEP open house. But no one picks up the h/p. Think maybe he's no longer providing the service? Moreover ComfortDelgro has a route to my estate so this pte bus won't come?

                Hi,

We are staying at CCK, and my girl will be in NH too, I am concern with regards to the early pickup timing. Do let me know if there’s any other pte bus that could pick them up later, Thanks! The school CCA starts late and ends around 5.45 to 6pm. As mentioned , I spoke to Bus operator and the School Admin… was told parents need to make their own arrangement for tpt home as the last bus departs school at 4pm. 😞

I was told CCA is not compulsory for GEP kids. Because they generally have longer school hours due to GEP programme & on top of that some are selected for additional training like Maths Olympiad, etc.

So I’ve decided no CCA for my dd. She’s busy enough, need stay back in school 2 to 3 times each week & need to practise her instrument regularly at home, really no time for ‘optional’ CCA

Hi Sleepy, is this true (CCA not compulsory for GEP students) for all schools or are you referring only to your DD's school ? If you don't mind me asking, how did you learn about this - during GEP briefing ?

Sorry I asked for info as my DS is also busy with his piano activities (he has private as well as Yamaha lessons which is 2x a week). he doesnt want to give up or reduce his piano lessons as he loves them and is doing well. If there is an option not to take CCA, we will seriously consider opting out too.

Thank you so much for sharing !

Hi, my DS is also going Nan Hua next yr, kindly add me to the list. We r residing in cck north, also facing a big problem with the sch bus timing. We were told the timing cld be as early as 5.50am!

Am keen to share cab/carpool so that son does not need to get up so early.
