Just wondering, how about houswork?

Do you expect kids to do their own chores?

I feel that being a SAHM doesn't mean I've to clean up after their irresponsible mess. My kids treat our house like hotel. Tissue on the floor will remain on the floor even after 6 days 7 nights. Really make me fume! So whenever they accumulate enough trash, I will explode. I made them pack & clean their own room, keep their clothes and change their bedsheets.

I expect the kids to clear the mess they create...that includes their books, eraser dust, stationery and tissue paper. Yes, that includes hubby...if he messes up, he will get it from me too.

This holiday, the Wii/x-box controllers are on the floor and the cables are on my nerves. Warned them both to clear up after playing each time or else I will keep everything before 31st Dec.

I like to inculcate the house chores to do.But my DS doesn't like.Sometimes I asked to do.First time he did happily.Second time he doesn't want to do.So I didn't force him.He buy something from shop.


My son plays with his K1 sister and behave like nursery boy.I want to see more mature in him.Today they were eating McDonalds and I went to shop.When I returned they never throw the rubbish into the gabbage bin.Just now I scold him,why you didn't throw.He asking me need to throw?u never inform me? :faint: I said use ur common sense and do.We r not animals.

Whenever he use his room everything will in the floor.I don't know how he does so fast.Just now I asked him to put back. :frustrated:

ds1's 'chores' is to take care of himself and his brother's breakfast on days that i sleep late (and they don't have school). he is also incharge of ensuring that all lights are off and all windows closed when we go out. this holiday, he is incharge of cooking rice (scoop, wash and into the cooker only la..easy peasy). yesterday i asked him if he wanted to help me vacuum the floor and he said yes, so we'll try that next week.

ds2 likes to help me hang and fold laundry.
however cannot rely on ds1 to pack his table...his definition of 'neat' is different from mine.

Just curious, since we are now talking about kids doing housework, since how old (are the kids) when you mums start training them to do houseworks? And which houseworks do you start first, and what are the progressions?

Mine started by changing the trash bag in all the rubbish bins at home, 7 in total. Keep clothes from the drying rack, fold clothes and put them back in wardrobe. Lay table with cutlery, place mats before mealtimes.

My kids will carry the I robot to the areas which need vacuuming. Forget about buying that stupid wet wipes to clean the floor :mad: the chemical in the wipe made kitchen so sticky after that. Mopped twice after that and still it was sticky.

Daughter helps to fold clothes and puts them in her cupboard. Either one of them will hang around to help in some way when I hang the wet laundry. I appreciate the little help they provide. :please:

i am using the electrolux tall cordless vaccum cleaner. cost 289 cos its lithium battery, ie u can charge without waiting for batt to be flat first. there is a cheaper model is normal batt, 168 i think. my girl can use it to vacuum.

there is a handheld vac inside the tall stand to take it out separately to vac.
i use newlife floor detergent. very clean.
i use bona spray mop. very easy to mop flr. kids can do it too. no pail needed cos it has a container for detergent. and the mop is easy to use any time without hvg to mix detergent or pour away water.
