The principal of Victoria School mentioned during today’s orientation that they do not have any vacancy despite a long waiting list.

Hi Ichigokun, I am aware of that and yes, it's ok with me.

Just wondering anyone has any experience in appealing for Maris Stella or St Andrew. If yes, can share with me your experience?
😓 if u don't mind the price then it's okay actually, my friend says that it's a very good school (Y).

He says the seniors are friendly and helpful. You can try to appeal.

Best of luck to you ^^

is tomorrow the closure for the mass appeal? meaning we can start hearing from schools tomorrow?

or we will really have to wait till next year???

Heard from my friend that tomorrow noon is mass closure and if you are lucky, will hear from them, if not latest by next Friday. She was told this by one school that her ds appeals for.

                  Hi ycylil,

My ds1 has the same exact point as your DS, that is 230;) not sure why they accepted his appeal, but I guess the school could have received a lot of appeals after the postings but some may have accepted other schools offer and gave up the appeals later (just like my DS1). hence, after all the transferring in and out, the school may have ended up enough places for 2nd choice students who appealed. Thus explained why the school only offerred after school opens.

If you seriously want your DS to be in that school, don't give up. Who knows they might offer later 😉 best of luck!

Sorry… Btw again… The school that we accepted (temasek secondary) was not in our s1 postings choices either. Hence, it might not be necessarily be in the choices, though some parents may think that it will hail a higher chances of getting into the school when appeal.

It turns out to be a blessing in disguise, my ds1 is doing well in temasek in terms of personal development and academic. He has become a responsible young man as school provides lots of opportunity for all the students in terms of leadership (DS is a sport captain) and the whole environment is inclusive.

They will give priority to affiliated students from MSHS Pri, I got 223 when the COP for affiliated was 225 in PSLE 2009, I appealed and I got received the call saying I was successful just 2 HOURS later. I know of friends(non-affiliated) who got 230 or 231 and yet didn’t get accepted even if it was one of their six choices.

On a side note, I’m doing well now and went to the best class in Sec 3. Contrary to popular belief, PSLE does not mean anything at all. Classmates with 240+ ended up in the worst class.

I love Maris Stella, It is my second home. Teachers are very caring and helpful, no matter how weak you are in a particular subject, they will always find time to teach you on your weaker points.

Thanks for your reply and sharing with me your views.
Understand from my DS that one of his friend got 231 with Higher Chinese 2 points manage to get in…too bad, my DS did not take up Higher chinese.
I shall need to wait for another 2 weeks before I know whether my DS will be selected or not…it’s really a very long wait…anyway, Happy New Year to all of you!
