Discovery Garden Childcare
-
Hi,
Can i have some feedback on how your kids are doing so far in discovery garden?
I am "shopping" around for a childcare for my girl.
I presume u all are in discovery garden at 701 yck road and not the cactus cres one rite? -
I’ve 2 girls there. So far, they’ve been doing great and enjoying school a lot. Things I like about the school… a vast improvement from their previous childcare:
- lots of outdoor space and activities (eg. chalk drawing, blowing bubbles, water play)
- good extra enrichment classes (gym, art, speech and drama)
- well stocked library with books from NLB
- regular feedback on the kids’ performance
- single storey only, no need to climb stairs
- no aircon during the day, only nap time
- teachers are pretty energetic, approachable and happy to share feedback and ideas on child development -
Hi Figaro,
Thanks for your valuable feedback.
I visited their Cactus crescent centre and the place is nice & clean probably cos it’s very new, just opened in Oct’11.
But i’m not sure how’s their teachers since this childcare is a new setup.
Are the teachers always changing? Are they the caring, committed kind?
Is their curriculum good and prepares them for P1?
I saw that u mentioned u know the owner of discovery garden and she was working in another childcare before.
May I know which childcare was that? -
She was previously at School House by the Garden in the Hougang area. My kids are now at 701 YCK... I'm not too sure about the setup at Cactus as I haven't been there. So far, in the past 6 months the teachers have been stable - no changes, esp for new teachers added as the number of children increased.

Hi all,
I am looking for childcare at YCk area and came across Discovery Garden…May i know the school fees that they are charging? -
Around $750 for full day after all working mum subsidies (includes speech and drama and gym fees). Art and other classes require additional fees.
-
Thanks Figaro…i am comparing between kinderland and discovery garden since i am staying around YCK…have you compare before?
I assume $750 is for kindy price? Does N1 or N2 have different price as well? -
I last visited Kinderland YCK in 2008, and the visit didn’t leave much of an impression. Quite neutral. I do remember it operated both a kindergarten as well as childcare, so it wasn’t very clear to me at that time. Not sure if it has changed…

It’s $1000 for all levels (PG, N1, N2, K1 and K2).
-
It has increased 20% wef 1st oct 2012. $1200.
Great outdoor, teachers seems friendly but quite inexperienced, staff turnover rate pretty high, this year sees almost new faces.
Breakfast is not fantastic as every week is the same so most parents preferred to eat at home. lunch is not too bad.
Personally find it is too expensive as only the environment is good, the rest is still quite subjective to individual parents. Depending on yr priority then.
