                Hi.

My ds is now in Y1 NUSH. He was offered Japanese as 3rd Lang at MOELC. But we have declined due to travelling time. My ds is still keen to take up Jap in house.

Anyone has more information about the curriculum, is it tough and is the dropout rate very high?

What Advantage does taking JPLT has over O level?

                Thanks
                😄

One week since school started and we're really glad that NUSH is so big on parent engagement. Really appreciate the effort put in to organize the parent seminar to help us understand what and how the kids are learning in school.

The transition from the 'spoon-feeding, hand-holding' learning model in primary school to the independent learning style will not be easy, but it helps that the school understands that, and attempts to help parents support their children 🙂

Curriculum should be based on the O level curriculum. however given that there is only 1 japanese teacher in the school (teaching all classes of different levels) and the generally small class size (meaning that classes of different levels could be merged), i would hazard to think that the standard offered would be lower than moelc. also afaik you have to pay an extra couple hundred every month if you take jap in-house. in addition, generally 3rd lang classes get the lousiest timeslots in the timetable (4-6 pm).

advantage of JPLT over O level is that it's an international qualification and there are many levels to it allowing a more seamless progression as compared to the latter.
