Tried and tested useful household tips

If you ensure that your rubbish chute seal is tight, it should keep out the cockroaches. Most of our cockroaches come in from the bathroom floor and sink traps. 15 years ago I began the practice of pouring 3 litres of boiling hot water into every floor and sink trap into the house. No more cockroaches.
We had 3 or 4 cockroaches when we moved into our new apartment in the first 2 weeks. I began the boiling water treatment again and… no more cockroaches.
I think the boiling water gets rid of the scent trails cockroaches use to signal each other that a certain pathway is safe and leads to food. Cockroaches try not to deviate from these paths. The hot water also neutralises the cockroach eggs that get laid in the U-shaped waste pipes.
Borax is a controlled chemical in Singapore… illegal to sell. If you want, you can easily buy this in the laundry department of any supermarket in USA. It is often used to wash clothes in the washing machine. Good luck bringing it in though!! You might get hanged? Kekekekekekeke!! -

Thanks smartmummy for the generous compliment.
We pour boiling water every Saturday night at 9pm. Need to wait till after dark to ensure that cockroaches gather at the entrance of floor trap. Every floor trap and sink hole gets this treatment once a week. -
boiling water into floor traps also helps to get rid of centipedes which are very common in landed props.

3 litres into every floor trap & sink hole? Wah let me countIf you ensure that your rubbish chute seal is tight, it should keep out the cockroaches. No more cockroaches.
4 toilets = 4 sinks, 8 floor traps
Kitchen = 1 sink, 1 floor trap
yard = 1 floor trap
Total 15 holes to be pouring 3 litres of water each. That is 45 litres of water a week down the drains if I were to do that treatment for my home. :yikes:
Ok let me wrap my head around that. -
think try not to overdo it.
not sure if the regular hot water treatment will destroy the glued joints of the PVC pipes or not.
if the pest makes a home, it’s probably at the cement part between the cover and the pipe coz I donch think they can make a nest on the pipe itself. -
