[Bukit Batok] Primary Schools
-
- Thought Dazhong Primary relocating back in end 2011 / beginning 2012?
- One thing good about Bukit View Primary uniform - black shoes! Another thing is don't need to buy separate PE t-shirts. Think use the same top for uniform?
If you are open to schools outside of Bukit Batok:
- Depends on which area of Bukit Batok you are in, you may be have a chance for Jurong Primary School. Some blocks in Bukit Batok are within 1km from Jurong Primary. The distance is measured by radius from school, not travelling distance. Do check the distance from http://www.onemap.sg.
- If you are attending Presbyterian churches, can try Pei Hwa Primary under Phase 2B (use IL's Hillview address).
- How about Bukit Timah Primary?
Do go visit school open house for a better feel of the schools - but normally in July / Aug. -
snowbee,
do remember that if you use your ILs address under the caregiver's route, you will be registered under the 1-2km bracket even if there is a school within 1km from their place.
the link (http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/bukit-batok) is not updated for 2011 registration, and i could not remember which schools had balloting within which registration bracket.
the only info i could get isphtthp:
you mentioned that Keming is out of reach.P2C Bukit Batok day 3 (29 July 2011)
vacancies, applicants
1\tPrincess Elizabeth\t53\t117
2\tKeming \t88\t135
3\tSt. Anthony\t101\t124
4\tBukit View\t134\t87
5\tLianhua \t142\t56
6\tDazhong \t128\t29
7\tHong Kah \t130\t12
your only best bet is to try balloting for Princess E.
however, if i remember correctly, BVPS has balloting for phase 2C supplementary (i can't remember for which distance bracket).
so you can either
1) go for 99%confirmed (unless next year's registration demand increases causing balloting) BVPS phase 2C (within 1km)
or
1) try ballot for Princess E
2) if unsuccessful for Princess E, you may need to ballot for BVPS in phase 2C supp
3) if unsuccessful for BVPS, do you have a backup plan?
if you don't have a backup plan for being balloted out for BVPS, and don't wanna risk going to other neighbourhood schools, you should just opt for BVPS.
what we like may not be what we can get in real life. so we gonna focus on what is available and make the best choice out of it.
another alternative is to look at Bukit Timah Primary school. check out your distance/IL's distance to BTPS to see your chances in phase 2C. -

Hi jedamum
You have been a great help. I narrow down to 2 choices: BVPS and BTPS since these 2 schools more or less confirm place in phase 2C. BVPS had advantage of being nearer to my in-law and my house (only 3 bus stops from IL’s) and in-house student care. Whereas BTPS, only bus 173 passed by and it’s more than 10 bus stops away. I intend to let my child take bus home when he is in P4. However, I prefer BTPS in terms of all other things. Been looking at BTPS forum, mostly good feedbacks from parents. What’s your comments? -

you are welcome.
you can try to get more comments about BTPS from

and

though 10 busstops away, you have to see the travelling distance and time taken. my personal view is that you need to feel good about the school to be willing to travel >10bus stops. my other view is that i will definitely give priority to BVPS if it is within walking distance; the moment i need to take bus, actually 10 stops and 3 stops, the difference is not so great if you prefer BTPS environment. you have to note that there is only 1 bus serving BTPS and during dismissal, it can get very pack. do go down during dismissal time and have a feel because logistics is an everyday issue.
all the best. -
hi all…
im pretty new to this forum so would like to check on the schools in Bukit Batok area…
im currently within 1km of St Anthony and my girl will be registering for P1 next year so thinking if there’s any comments on the alternative school that i should enrol my girl if my first choice of SAPS won’t be able to get?
Any advice on the chances of me getting into SAPS? since they don’t accept PVs?
Thanks alot in advance -
Hi everyone,
happy new year to all of you!
I am a little confused on the registration process here.
My son will be eligible for phase 2A for Keming Primary School. However, we will prefer Princess Elizabeth Primary and we do stay within 1km of PEPS as well.
So if we opt to go for PEPS which we will be in phase 2C, how do we get a seat back in Keming in event that we were not chosen in the balloting?
Or do we secure the place in Keming first, then go ballot for a seat in PEPS for 2C at same time?
Appreciate any advice!

what most people in your shoes do is that they register at Keming first. then at phase 2C, decide if they are willing to withdraw from keming and register at PEPS. people usually will monitor the registration stats (can call sch up to inquire) to see if balloting is required within 1km. very highly likely, like past few years, balloting is required for 1km. once you know of this info, you can decide if you want to withdraw from keming and register at PEPS to join in the ballot (most parents will inquire at last day and then station 1 parent at each sch to do withdrawing and registration process; do factor in admin/queue time for registration process in order not to exceed their closing time). you cannot register at PEPS without withdrawing at Keming because the registration system is centralise and will detect if you had registered in another sch. once you withdraw from keming, there is no turning back to go back to keming's earlier registration phase ie if you fail in the ballot at PEPS, you'll have to join the rest of the crowd to fight it out at reminding schools with vacancies at Phase 2C supplementary.
so decide wisely....good luck! -
Hi Jedamum,
thanks for the reply.
Its quite a gamble, similar to betting on toto.
Looks like to be on safe side, have to register for Keming under 2A since PEPS has been on ballot over these years. Otherwise, may end up losing out on both sides. -
