:thankyou:
Thanks to all the experienced parents who shared their experience on Tokyo.
Frankly we are struggling with those name of places, too many na, ra, hi, bi,etc... to remember. Also the metro system sure looks challenging. Just the look of it puts us off that I've been bugging hubby to plan as \"I can't read the map\". We finally brought ourselves to start planning where to go over the weekends as we heard that we should plan so that we take the most efficient way. We are off to Tokyo on this coming wednesday (the nite before the last SA2 paper and I finally get a confirmed biz class seat on SQ A380)
 Finally, mummy and daddy can start to relax alittle.
I found that the following site is good for planning rides between station.
http://www.tokyo-subway.net/english/ especially to avoid the Toei lines which charge more and metro day pass cannot be used. Also, observed that it's possible for us to avoid JR line if we are staying in Tokyo only.
We were also told of special offer eg. buy the airport limousine return ticket at JPY6000 for 2 ways at Narita airport. This also includes 2 days metro pass. This will definitely bring about savings since it's not cheap to travel around.
Having done some \"homework\" over the weekends and finally have an idea of what we want to do, I read through this forum again from 1st to latest posting. It helps tremendously. Eg. In the blog that someone posted, it highlights that we should only go to harajuku area on sunday late morning, etc... this wasn't on our consideration initially.
Thanks again and pls continue to share your experience as I am sure this will come in very handy for new visitors to Tokyo. -
thanks for the info.
We have decided not to take bullet train.

Hi,
Thanks for the info… We will probably do a swop then. BTW, the Imperial palace (east garden) is closed on friday and monday.
So we will now do the imperial palace (walking distance from our hotel) on sunday am. Then probably do tsukiji on monday before going back to hotel to checkout at 11am. -
Yeah and save you from waking up in the wee morning hours
Aren't you checking out Nakamise near Tsjuki - heard interesting bargain shopping street not to be missed? I very \"swallow\" - will sacrifice imperial palace for that  -
Hi,
Our hotel is overlooking the imperial palace so I suppose we will just go and have a look. Seems like too much shopping in our itinerary already and wonder if we will get to buy anything eg. will things be so expensive that I will not want to buy
Sharing our draft plan.
Thurs : Arrive hotel by noon
Asakusa, Nakamise
Ueno, Ameyoko (another place with lots of shops)
Tokyo station (to buy outlet bus tkt)
Ginza
Fri : I am going to work while hubby is planning to go to Odaiba by
himself.
Akihabara in the evening
Sat : Gotemba outlet
Sunday : Imperial palace
Harajuku (aim by late morning)
Shibuya area
Meiji shrine
Omotesand and Takeshita Street, Daiso 100 JPY shop
Shinjuku
Monday : Tsukiji market
Airport transfer at noon.
We are thinking of swopping the activities between sunday and saturday depending on weather forecast. -
just realised that there's a timetable for the airport limo to tokyo central...
last bus to Shinagawa (where we're staying) is 9:05pm... our arrival is 8:30pm... which all seems okay if we rush right?
nope...
looks like the airport limo counter closes by 7pm(?),. there's an option to purchase the tickets in Singapore but they still need to be presented at the Airport counter...
