Funx3:
We went for the CCAO Brief today.
Hi, i don't think the CCA thing is ready yet. Instructions will be given on how to do so. For some CCAs, the trials are not signed up through the internet trial thing(i think tribune and some others), so you have to ask one of their members to help you with one.Choco05:
Hi Choco05,
You wrote :
\"1)Sign up for trials. You can do so either through the internet system that the school will set up, or through arranging with the CCA yourself.\",
Is the internet system now available for the trials signing up?
How does one arrange with the CCA for the trial if it is not done today at the CCAO?
When is the cut-off date for the trials' sign-up?
Please do advise. Many thanks.
The cut-off date will also be notified when the trials schedule for CCAs are up.
Don't Worry, More Info will be given within these 2 weeks, tog with the iNet Password. Parents R Only Advised of General Framework for the CCA, LEAPS, etc today.
More Info on Signing up of Trials, Selection and Allocation will be given Later. Think Closing Date for Submission is Sometime in End Jan/Early Feb. No hurry.
If I recall correctly, the inet login will be given to the gals on the 6/1/12 (fri) and with that, all the power point slides from today's CCAO, including important dates for signing up for trials, trial dates, dates for submitting CCA choices etc, will be available to the Yr 1.

Funx3 & Tinklebelle, can pm me your DD's name? Since all in the same class, maybe can get them to know each other?

can RGS seniors like Choco05 etc confirm this ?
thank you

Hi Tinkerbelle,
I read that in the post that your dd dsa via English.May I know does she need to commit to one cca in school as in drama or debate?
Thank you.

If it's any consolation, the gals will be at the amphitheatre tomorrow so they can stretch their legs a bit.
Yeah, I was wondering, and pity the Gals as Well (For sitting on the Hard Floor, Packed like Sardine ....) thru the Whole briefing session.Funx3:
Hi Funx3,
How was your DD's 1st day? Made new friends already? DD enjoyed herself today but her legs were numb from sitting on the floor for too long in the hall. :rotflmao:
Did you attend the talk in the AVA room for the DSA sports gals? Can your DD take up an additional CCA?
and Yes I did Managed to Attend the Talk for the DSA sports Gals .... errrrrrrrrr .... Parents.
Appreciate the sch More Frank and Focus Talk, addressing the anxieties of Many in the Audience.
Additional CCA is Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat-ly Frown upon. Highly Discouraged. (That's My Personal intepretation
)
But the Gals R Encouraged to Go for Leadership Training Path instead in Snrs years.
In Fact, DSA-Sports Gal R Not Required to log in to Register for CCA.
Feel So deja-vu ....
U know, Like DSA CO already, Cannot Participate in S1 posting kinda feeling

Just to clarify....DSA sports gals can't take up another core CCA but can they take up a merit CCA?
-
Seems like students who entered via DSA must really committed to their promise. The 3 DSA squash girls in my dd class. Today they have to start practising squash already. The three girls told my dd that they didn’t go for any interview at all during DSA. I will ask dd whether those are foreign breed or local breed.

Depends on the Inter sch Competition Schedule ....
Some Sports Starts their round of competition from Jan onwards ....
So the Early start to Practice is essential, esp if the Gals R field to rep the sch this year. And Also for those who compete in Team, they need to train and coordinate with fellow team mates ....
The schedules for training for Most sch, if not Mistaken, starts in Dec last year for the Snrs ....

I Dunno know -le ....
Maybe Seniors can Enlightened us?
R there Any Of your fellow sch Mates who does?
And Which Merit CCA will Accept them?
By the Way .... We Enquire at Some Core CCA booth, but it's not encouraged, and since got limited vacancies, Almost Zero Chance they will take Gals in for 2nd CCA.  -

Of course students who DSA through sports must commit to their promise, just as anyone who makes a promise in any circumstance must commit to it. It's not something to be entered into lightly and I'm sure these students and their parents would have given considerable thought to the commitment before accepting the CO.
Having said that, it's not just the DSA sports girls who are deep into training. Girls in the various school teams have been training all through the year end school holidays. Nationals will be in April or thereabouts and this is a crucial period to get training in. -
Choco05:
The front J Block toilets are usually pretty packed, including when you change after PE.  My suggestion is to use the toilets at the back of J Block, or the toilets at the corner of E block/D block. E block toilet is directly opposite the end of the canteen that is nearer to J block, while D block is behind E block. I usually go to the D block toilet after PE
There's only 2 toilets in J Block. So if she wants a shorter queue there are plenty of others in the school. Usually in other blocks as long as you find the location of one toilet, then there are likely to be toilets on the floors above too.Funx3:
Ha Ha ....
Diff from Your year, a child ....
101 this year has a Nice Chab-Ba-Rang Mix of ALL the Above ....
(of Course exclude GEP/MEP/SAP -la!)
So Far Counted 3 RG, 1 Tennis (All Known to My Gal), a Few DSA Academics (Agak-Agak-ration by my Gal .... HeeHee), Maybe a Couple of Swimmers (yet to Find Out ....) and Many S1 Posting ....
She Mention tt their Class is Rather Quiet .... (Or Shy?)
Poor T Has to Practically Drag Ans from Each And Everyone of them
And She Asks,\"Why Our Year 1 ClassRooms So Isolated? And the Lockers .... (Beep-Beep-Beep-Beep) \" :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
And When I Ask her What She have for Recess and Lunch, She Goes,
\"The Q is So Long .... That we Did not take anything, Just Drink water!\"
Errrrrrrrrrrrr .... Snrs .... Any Comment, Really tt Bad -meh?
And Ask what she spend her time On during these periods ....
\"We Spend Practically the Whole Time ....
Q-ing for Toilet! The Q is Soooooooooooooo Looooooooong ....\"
She's So Funny .... Yet Poor Thing ....
So Snrs .... Rule No 1 for Orientation Day ....
Armed the New Gals with Map showing Directions of ALL Toilet Locations within the Sch Premises!

I agree sometimes the queue can be looooooong, but will get used to it after a while. Year 1 classrooms are indeed isolated but really it's a place full of memories, i'll rather it be isolated than next to the important staff rooms. But i agree from classroom you try to get to the sci labs or library is a looooong journey, and not enough shelter. Sheltered walkway like so narrow.

Of course 113/213 isn't all MEP-ians/SAP-ians, (I'm revealing my class - 213) we have 7-8 MEP-ians and no SAP-ians in our class. Most kids aren't in either programs
Not everyone in 113 is in MEP, but most of them are.friendship:
in 106, there 3 squash players DSA
in 113, there is a Ai Tong top girl but she is not MEP leh? She is my dd enrichment classmates.
All RGPS girls never mix around one. All gang together.
Girl Guides say 30 girls will be chosen out of 150 applicants.
RGPS girls do mix after a while when you get to know them(half of my class are from RGPS).
GG about...20-25 people were selected last year, not sure if it's still the same this year.
