So how's your daughter's P1 preparatory coming along? For me, I am focusing on maths and leaving chinese to Berries. For english, am trying hard to get my boy to like reading.

You started your prince on swimming already? -
Hi Jedamum,
For English, she has been attending reading classes since K1 and reading relatively well.
For Chinese, am putting her in Hanyu Pinyin classes.
For Maths, I believe in pratice make perfect, have assigned her to do some worksheets daily.
Yeh, both of them started swimming since this June.
How about yours? -
Hi SMILEY,
For english, my boy just stopped the english class he joined since last Jan as I find he is not making much progress. He is doing assessment once a week at home and reading 3-4 times a week as per my schedule for him.
For Chinese, he is with berries and now his Hanyu Pinyin is better than me. But word recognition is still not so strong.
For Math, he is finishing his MMI math (finally!!! as i find that they teach very basic only, but my boy finds it fun) and he is doing assessment twice a week at home under my coaching.
Swimming, my 6yr old is into end of Term 4 by end of this month.
They are learning frog style this term.
ds1 is still too young for anything, so he is enjoying being read to at home and plenty of play and tv. -
Wow! Sounds like every week is exciting for your sons.
Btw, did any of you introduce any creative writing to your K2 child yet?
How do you go about doing it? -
haha...all his enrichment is currently cramped into Saturdays.
it is more exciting for me a sahm who spends the whole of weekday coop up at home. my husband the chauffeur isn't very keen though.
I may sign my boy up for Jan & Elly's Creative writing...it is not cheap, so maybe we'll try for one term..they only accept intake next year...have to check the timeslot as well.
For home-creative writing, we just do the assessment..those type with pictures and helping words. I am currently only correcting him for the tenses and so long he can give me 5 sentences, i am happy. didn't want to correct too much in case it puts him off.
how's Shichida? is it value for money and really trains the memory? did they have other interesting activities besides flashcards? -
My girl has only attended a year of Shichida, when she was 3 yrs old.
The reason for withdrawing is no suitable time slots for her at that time.
Shichida not only introduce the children to flash cards, but memory games as well. But before going for lesson, pracitice has to be done at home.
Heard from my neighbour that Shichida is so overwhelming that it has a long waiting list now.
