So far,and I said thus far(not sure in the future though, ha) I have no issues with the sch. For P1 parents, we were informed of the changes during the orientation ie the timing for dismissal on Fridays is 1.05pm. Information list such as what to bring etc was issued thru the children ytd. So far so good.

Only thing bad is the poor communication among the staff and teachers as they seemed to be clueless of the changes. And it will be good if parents of p1 kids are able to stay ard during recess time to get a feel of what their kids r doing. 😄

hquek, i'm looking for private teachers now, cos schools timings are rigid, difficult to make changes.

as a P1 parent, i'll prefer there's a day at least which we can join our kids in the school to know what's going on. saw on news yesterday but didnt take note which sch is that, that daddys actually join their kids for recess, this is quite interesting. maybe PSG can bring in the idea 🙂

for communication wise, we are given letters with all the necessary info, so at this point there's no issue, maybe as we go along, we'll probably hv more inputs on improvement. on e change of time for fri, maybe e sch can indicate in e letter reasons for making e changes.

It’s the school’s right to make any changes to dismissal time, I recognise. But it’s very strange when they deem fit to only inform P1 parents, and not the rest of the school.

          But thanks for the inputs.

Parents what do you think about grouping P1 classes by month of birth?

I think the month of birth does impact the learning curve. Although it will even out later, I think it is best to bridge the gap in P1 so that all will be confident learners later on without affecting self-esteem or spending more time to catch-up.

As for the timing thing. Although during the P1 orientation there was mention of the arrival and dismissal timing but the information is different from the printed material. So there’s confusion for me.

The formal note about the arrival and dismissal timing for the first 2 week was given on the 2nd day of school. It would be better if it was given during Orientation day, so that I would not miss out on the early dismissal time for the first day. Thanks

On the dismissal time, all level parents didn’t know about it until jan 2012, so P1 parents had a head start. Anyway, for me, that is a past issue, I’m only looking forward.

My p2 hasn’t got his timetable, but he has submitted his worksheets and exercise books. Teachers should have enough to work on. Just remember to pack their textbooks, plus a storybook can already.

No time table yet but ds was told to bring Chinese textbook on Monday. I assume lessons will start next week.

My feedback on the dismissal timing is different from yours. For the 1st 2 wks the P1 will be dismissed earlier than the rest of the level. 😄
