Nanyang Girls' High School [*IP]

Why is this thread so quiet?
Just attended teachers - parents meeting this evening. Anyone has any comments? -
Hi there. Finally one soul appeared. The RG thread is so much more busy. Hey, where are the Nanyang mums and dads ? Yes, I was there
-
I was there too. Like the way Principal handled throny issues (eg. traffic and class allocation issues) in a light-hearted manner but yet bringing her message across effectively.
DD had fun during the one week orientation, and came home beaming everyday. Now that honeymoon is over, hope things will be manageable.Tough Cookie:

I was having this feeling that the way Mdm Heng talked to the parents as if she was giving a speech to her students in NYPS .....LOL -
Haha. She comes across as a hands-on principal, not just as a figure head. I also like the fact that she always involves her senior team.
Do you find that the orientation in Nanyang is somewhat muted as compared to others? -
Muted as in no overnight camps as compared to some other schools?
Personally, I prefer the overnight camp to be held in March rather than during orientation as it would be stressful for some kids to stay away from home just when they are trying to settle into a new environment and new classmates. By March, these kids would probably have found their friends, and enjoy the camp more.
Thought the canoeing experience was good for class bonding and finding out who are the leaders and good team players.Tough Cookie:

Me too, DD1 in Sec 2 this yr. Sheβs looking forward to the boarding experience so she can spend more time with her classmates and best friends.

Hi. I am a year 1 mum. Is boarding in school compulsory for year 2 girls ? If so, for how long? Thanks
Also, is there anything that you "experienced" mums can highlight and guide us "new" mums along? Many thanks.
