Good morning all & yes Happy 2012

all must be looking forward to CNY liao.
I got a question here. how to motivate my DS to finish his homework (both at home he has CMA Abacus homework and his school) faster? he often get feedbacks by the teachers (both CMA and his cc teachers) that he is slow in completing his work (not that he don't know how to do it) and yes, he love to talk in the class and he like to see what is his friend doing...
anyone..can tell me how :p. i am like a recorder rewinding and rewinding telling him that he can only talk/play after he finish his work (in school and at home too) and he would tell me that he know (with the very sad face) and he don't want to be slow...but then..he is still slow ler.
i am also trying the rewards system (ie if he finish his homework fast and properly, i would bring him to play ground etc)
is it perhaps he is not time concious or he has yet master the importance of time management?
i feel he is in K2 now and going Primary 1 next year and his teacher has feedbacks that he needs to do his home work faster in order to cope well in Primary school...
mummies, any thoughts that you can share? -
Hi Club 2006…
Like to welcome Ahkeong onboard… -
TS Mummy,
Looks like we are facing the stress and issues of getting kids to stay still, increase concentration level and completing homework fast and correctly. In a way, every child is different, I am quite blessed that my DS finish his work quite average, but he is very careless. Therefore, if work done is slow but correctly, would not it be a good sign rather than careless?
I had been using reward system as well and it is still working good and fine on my DS. I can suggest that you give it a try on the soft approach rather than negotiating and tade method. Giving your DS praises, encouragement and lets him see the benefits of completing it quicker rather than slow. Maybe it will helps.
Alternatively, you can consider a challenge to himself. A page of class work, and lets him determine the time to complete. From there on, he is so called having a challenge against time rather than complete it so as to watch TV or go playground. If he meets the time, give your DS a surprise after complimenting or praising him. -
Hi Club 2006, how is spring cleaning coming up as we are slightly below 3 weeks to CNY…
Had tidied up my store room and sold some items on a flea market, generating some allowance…going to post some pre-owned toys in marketplace and ebay tomorrow after taking pictures of it. Hope to fetch a good sales prices rather than taking up space at home.
