do you rest assured for your sec school kids to go overseas? i feel nowadays the world is not so peaceful and some countries are not very safe ....

Yes, I do. I can't worry so much. My only request is for them to send us ONE SMS everyday to *report*. For our ds2 when he went for immersion in p5, the teachers actually uploaded photos/videos every evening. That was really great bc we could see how they looked, what they did. I've seen some other group's trips these days where the teachers upload their daily activities on a Facebook group page, including photos as well. Not bad for parents to feel more assured.

Me too. My dd has been going overseas with her schools since primary school so I'm very relaxed about it.

DD was in performing arts and the Pri school had Gold with honors in the last SYF, but no trips...nothing.

Your children are so lucky to have been given that exposure.
At least the opportunities are there, whether or not you choose to take it up. πŸ˜„

If your dd was in the CCA I'm thinking about, they did try to organize an overseas trip one year but there wasn't enough support and they canned it.

They should have asked me...
I would have put up both arms and legs in support of it... πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰
As far as I know, choir, band and most performance arts groups get to go. But really expensive leh. My girls went to Spain last year, $4k each, I thought it was too expensive. Sure they won some first prize in some choir competition, but from what I heard, kinda funny. They were so serious and practiced like crazy, other Europeans were there to have fun and play.

              .

Wah, your dd's trip so expensive??!!!

$4K is really ex. There was still good take-up given the cost?
Everybody went... the only consolation is that my girls enjoyed it tremendously and it bonded them with the choir members, and between the sisters. This is good because my girls left for uni six months later.

That’s good. Sometimes the prohibitive costs deter parents from signing their children up for the trips.

Top 3 scorers with 10 A1s in one sitting are one from Crescent and 2 from St Nick’s.
