Hi Silverhorse, is berries the enrichment centre for chinese ? how it is different from \" ε€©δΈ‹β€œοΌŸθ°’θ°’ :please:

        Hi Crystalbelle
Yes, Berries is an enrichment centre like Tien Hsia. At Berries, they do not have ting xie. But my nephews study at Tien Hsia, they have ting xie weekly. You may want to check out their websites. Its very difficult to get into Tien Hsia as they have a long waiting list.[/quote]
Hi silverhorse, thanks will check with them πŸ™‚

Hi Dorisp, its teacher in short . My collegue just told us that her kids was under stress when the teacher in P1 dun teach HYPY as they think that the kid should know lor....
Now i also confuse as most of the CC is teaching HYPY but kindergarten under MOE do not teach as they say P1 will teach lor...

Now in dilema whether to send DS now to enrichment class to learn HYPY but he is still learning phonics so a bit wary that he might mix them up 🀷

Thanks for the clarification crystal, for a moment I thought no more Hanyu Pinyin from P1 next year and wanted to go ahead and book a table to celebrate with DS+DH.......... :rahrah:

I heard the kindy is not teaching Hanyu Pinyin (perhaps I will check with DS's teacher again later). If they are not teaching now but the future P1 teacher expects them to know, then it means........

sorry for getting you β€œη©Ίζ¬’ε–œβ€... i too wish that MOE can strike off the HYPY .. does not do any good lor...

The chinese teacher from my DS new Kindy which we have just attend their induction workshop told us this. She say she will not teach any HYPY as MOE do not recommend kindy to teach this in pre-school as the pre-school teacher are not train in this so they are afraid to teach wrongly.. she says that P1 teacher will teach ( that comes the confusing part when my collegue told me that P1 does not teach)...

But under the same MOE accredicted CC ( DS ex CC ), says they will be teaching HYPY thus stopping to teach phonics in K2 lor :faint: :lightrod:

My DS chinese enrichment class with Beijing Language Sch started HYPY since last year. From this year onwards, they are zooming in on the 4 syllabus of sounds for HYPY.

DS’s CC is also covering HYPY and ting Xie. Starting with 4 words this Fri and my boy had practice and ready for it.

Looks like if all kids already started with HYPY and DS is the only one that have not learn that, he will be struggling in P1 right?
So i should put him in enrichment class to learn HYPY even though the Kindy is not teaching right ?

Afterall you had to assess if your DS is able to take both phonics and HYPY at the same time. I do come across a handful where they mixed up both the pronunciation of HYPY and phonics.
