Yesterday's orientation activity for DS was kayaking. He had a great time but there was a little incident that disturbed me a little. DS said that he was one of the last to pick up his bag after the activity because he helped to carry the canoes/kayaks for keeping. When he came back, his water bottle was missing, but bag still around. It was a Nike water bottle. I'm just curious, is it common in NJC for simple but obviously branded things to be stolen? He has been in Nanyang Primary and has this water bottle for years. Never occured to us that someone will steal a water bottle, but then maybe it is Nike, and it is a very different environment now. I think we must have been in a very protected environment in Nanyang. 😞

My elder boy had left his wallet in the toilet more than once. Everytime it was picked up n sent to the GO. No money lost.

That's good. Hopefully DS's experience is isolated. To lose a water bottle that is in a bag is just so unbelievable.....

Hi can anyone brief me about A Maths. My DD in JH2 and is not selected for A Maths. Is it of any disadvantage if she wants to go in engineering line. Thanks

At the Subj combi selection parents briefing last year, the principal stressed that the current curriculum is vigorous enough and it does not mean those students not in Accelerated programmes are at a disadvantage.

By A Maths, are your talking about Additional Maths or Accelerated Maths? TIA for clarifying.

Oh well, my son has lost his water bottle many times, but in many places. Not NIKE though. So we just buy new ones. He did do canoeing at MacRitchie, but never lost his water bottle there. hah.

I think it's Accelerated Maths. They mentioned about this during Orientation. Similarly there is Accelerated Science also.

Just means they'd have been prepared for A-level subjects earlier? ;D

Finish earlier can take a longer break before sitting for exams? 😉

Maybe means they will find it easier to qualify for H3 math?

OT: It seems the 3rd lang class for students in RV is conducted usually on Wed. Yours is Tues?

                      Maybe a prank.

Our worst experience was during boarding last year. Someone poured water onto his study cabinet, pillow, his iMac (only 2 mths old) and cut both collar straps on his uniform (all mischief carried out within 3 weeks).

I threatened to call in the police, but boarding officer assured they wld investigate the matter. In the end, they claimed the CCTV did not give conclusive evidence.

I think it's Accelerated Maths. They mentioned about this during Orientation. Similarly there is Accelerated Science also.

My boy told me JH1 has 2 Accelerated Maths intake (semester 1 & 2). JH2 & JH3 hv only 1 intake at beg of year. Underperformed students will be taken off.

JH2 students can sit for qualifying tests for Accelerated Physic n Accelerated Chemistry.

If a student is already in Accelerated Maths and qualifies for both Accelerated Physics and Accelerated Chemistry, the student can take all 3 accelerated prog, though the teachers are very likely to discourage this arrangement.

Accelerated Physics and Accelerated Chemistry are conducted once a week. The student is required to self study in order to be able to follow the classroom lesson plan.
