School bus fare

Hi, it also depends on whether the area they serve is HDB estate, in that case more students, bigger bus, so lower fare each
if pte estate or few students, less students, higher fare -
The size of bus plays a part. For big buses, the charge is lower. For mini van type, charge higher.
I observed the type of housing probably plays a part too… My kids’ bus mate stays in a HDB across the road and he is charge slightly below $100. While we are charge $125 and I’ve 2 kids on the same bus. -

if it is really just across the road, tell yr kids to cross that road every day, and you can increase their allowance by almost $30 each month each :imcool: -
no, the size of bus does not matter. last yr, ds1 bus fare is at $100, small van (coz afternoon session) which drove in very conveniently, this yr, increase to $110, big bus and have to to wait further away and at the main road somemore.

Hi, I'm wondering how school bus fare is computed? Isn't it based on distance? I'm paying $74 for a 2 way trip from my place at Hougang to Montfort Junior whereas somebody who is staying at SengKang is paying only $69. Can somebody enlighten me? Thanks!
Maybe you can try asking about. dont get settle down with 1-2 company. more quotation more choice. -
Somehow school bus have to pay for school holidays in Jun & Dec. Taking one trip the price is not 50%. I wonder why the school or MOE never step in to monitor the sch bus fare?

Sigh.
What all of you are paying pales in comparison to what I pay for DD......
$180 from Jurong East to St Nicholas in Ang Mo Kio......
And it is for 1-way.
If 2 way..... $220. :yikes: -

You are lucky that there is a school bus from Jur E to St Nicks. I have a friend who stays in Jurong too but there is no school bus to Pei Chun in Toa Payoh. So one way is taken care by parent and the other way is by domestic helper in a cab.Sigh.

I understand from industry sources that school bus fare is also determined by location, school type, years you have taken the school bus other than distance. For example, the fare will be different for the same distance travelled if you stay in Bukit Timah vs Jurong. School bus fare for main stream schools vs international schools vs private kindergartens will differ. I guess there is due to ability to pay.
My dd has been taking school bus for 5 years. Over the years, we bear a fraction of the increase in bus fare. In other words, we are paying lower fare as compared to another student who has just taken the bus recently. -
The school bus fare is very expensive.
