Teck Ghee Primary

Hi holidayQ,
I share your concern about packing lunch too. Do hope by next year when your twins join, the canteen situation is already under controlled. At least the school has one year to work out all the issues and concerns. For now, I am going to go library to find out more idea on bento and lunch to pack :-).
Hehe. Yes we could be neighbors:-). I used to walk with my DS to school in the morning. With the park open up, it is actually a nice walk across the park :-). -

Hi, should be OK for you to visit. Make a call just in caseEveryone on this thread is so helpful and friendly that I thought I would say hi as well. I live within 1km of Teck Ghee and right now debating whether to register my twins at TG or Kuo Chuan which is 1-2km fr our home. All my friends are telling me to try ballot for Kuo Chuan but I like what I've seen on TG's website - my kids love art and craft.
Has anyone faced the same problem? If so, can you pls share why you chose TG?
Will the school allow us to pay a visit before the open house? Anyone knows their policy on twins - separate class or not?
:thankyou:
Just to share, hubby and I visited the school just before registration started. We just dropped in without notice, asked about the school's academic results and the teacher who spoke to us asked if we would like to take a walk around the school. We were impressed by her friendliness
Also visited a few other schools but had the best impression of TGPS
I am also very appreciative of the parent volunteers. I don't bring DS to school myself nowadays but when it rains, I drive him to school and I am most impressed by the parent volunteers helping out in the rain to direct traffic. Even the principal is at the foyer to help out

Hi Astee,
Thanks for the welcome and your helpful advice! We gain precious info about the school through reading this thread and are deeply appreciative of the TGPS parents who are so generous to share their views and insights. i live nearer to the bishan side so i don't get a chance to walk past the school very often - wonder if they will put up the info on their website when open house draws near?
Rejoice 137,
i think i can guess which popular school u are referring to...it's in fact just 5 mins walk from my place. competition is even tougher this year with the completion of the Clover condo and the new DBSS flats
it's really encouraging to read about your good experience with TGPS. with half a year down to registration, i'm desperately trying to gather as much info as i can about the 3 nearest schools...
HolidayQ,
my boy has a pair of twins in his kindy and another pair in his weekend enrichment class. so i can't help but wonder if we happen to know u n ur kids...hee hee

Hi Rejoice,
Are you into Bento-ing? I am looking for someone whom has on-hands experienced doing bentos and probably if you are agreeable, we can arrange a small \"Bento Making Session\".
I want to learn to do bentos...
Cheers,

Hi Tanglin,
You are most welcome and we are all learning from one another experienced and i am still learning everyday.
I think the school will put up the open house date in its website and we will be happy to share the details, once it confirmed, on this forum too. So definitely there are other avenue/sources for you to know the Open House date. Fear not...hehe.
Heard from my son tuition friend's grandma that the \"competitive school in mentioned\" is moving to a holding place near AMK while the school is undergoing renovation work to prepare itself for Single session operation. Not sure if the movement had been confirmed.
Cheers,

hi, how about Ang Mo Kio Primary School. Has anybody made any comparison betweent these 2 school?
-
Hi Concern mom,
Welcome to the forum and thanks for raising up on AMKPS. I was from AMKPS, so technically, i am an OLD Girl and this allows me to register at 2B..
My only concern,4 years ago, was AMKPS was a dual session primary school and it makes working part-time logistic arrangement very difficult, so that was why i did not register my girl for my alma-mater.
Not sure if the school now is single session?
Cheers,

My choice for TGPS seven years ago also because of single session. Though AMKPS is just next to my block.
Dunno abt AMKPS, but TGPS had been improving alot, heard this year they even implementing Ipad learning for non-core subjects. But still dunno the details yet. Unfortunately, my DD left TGPS. Haha.
Cheers,

Hello bluebellas. Thanks for your reply.
Astee, I've been checking out bento recipes online. The presentation is so nice that I'm tempted to try. However, knowing my kids they will eat one mouthful and throw the rest away. Wasted effort.
rejoice, I was wondering if it's possible to walk across the park to school and now I know it can be done. Looks near but dragging 2 reluctant kids with me could make the journey twice as long. :scratchhead:
