      Hi funz

If all else fails, you can try again after P3 when the GEPers come out of that popular school you want. Thatโ€™s what happened to my frenโ€™s gal who wanted to join a good school. In the meantime, make sure your kid does well in his current school.

Hi! My daughter is gg to reg for P1 this year. Iโ€™m planning to send her to a school near my place and subsequently transfer her to MGS when she goes to P2. Can anyone advise on this as i have read somewhere in the tread that it is quite tough to get a transfter to MGS. What are the things that the school will look for before granting the child a place? Is there an entry test or interview or something? Appreciate any advise regards to this matter, thanks!

Maybe you use your child's CCA and academic result to enter.

              Hi Mummy of 3,

Thanks for your reply. I suppose that will be the basic criteria ( CCA and P1 academic report) but i wonder if there are any entry exams anot. SCGS has a 45 min test for English/Mother toungue and maths as selection criteria. In any case, do you know of many cases where parents had been successful in transfering their DD to MGPS? Thanks!

Thanks Jedamum! Yes, i shall make haste then!

Hopefully, the Principal wont be too busy to meet me as its the 1st week of school! I took a look at the P1 admission stats for that school for his year and noticed that balloting was needed for even <1km...so guess its a \"fullhouse\" for P5...but i'm still hopeful.. :xedfingers:

                all the best then!

You are so right, Jedamum! I wasted no time last week in contacting the school and was blessed to have had the appointment with the VP the next day! The Officer in charge of transfers was so helpful and kind. After listening to my explanation of our son's predicament, finding out more about him and evaluating copies of his academic results, the VP offered him a place with the school! You cant imagine how pleasantly surprised we were for him to be accepted! We were simply touched by the warmth and hospitality shown to us by the VP who even took the trouble to give us a tour of the entire school after the appointment!

DS started with the school this week and as at today, he is quite settled and has started training with the team, something he is so thrilled about!

This transfer episode simply affirms my belief that with valid reasons, a sense of urgency and diplomacy, schools are willing to listen and try to accept students into their fold!

Thanks again for your support and advice! God Bless!

                      Hi mummies out there,

I had successfully balloted into school A for my elder boy for P1 this year. However, our ideal school is school B. Thus, if I am able to successfully enrol my younger boy to school B, can I still transfer my elder one to school B by riding on sibling studying in the same school? Is there any criteria which i need to note? Appreciate mummies here can share their experiences with me.

                      Thank you

                        hi kiakiamom,
this is what happened to someone i know of.
Elder child enrolled in Sch A. Younger child balloted successfully in Sch B (of choice). Parents put Elder child in waitlist for transfer to Sch B. When a vacancy arises in upper primary, the sch notified the parents but informed them that the Elder child will not be allocated to class according to exam results as vacancies are in other non-banded classes.
You can approach Sch B to request for transfer and they will probably give you priority (over other regular/normal) waitlister); but be prepared to accept any vacancy even if it is not in the first few classes (although Elder Child may be in top few classes in Sch A).
                        Good luck!
