GEP 2011 - Screening & Selection

Any parents seen yesterday's chinese homework regarding the 航海家 ? So tough, some of the comprehension questions you have to read & read the passage again to find the answers. Can't imagine those weak in chinese ....

My DS brought back the above assignment, I was :yikes: then I asked him is this HW, do you have to do this, he said I don't know cos I don't understand the instructions that teacher gave. I want to

I asked hubby to go through passage with him, he said the passage is almost like secondary school standard, my DS is really no good in MT I could foresee a very difficult road ahead for him :nailbite:

Yap..my DD brought back the same MT passage too! I spend almost an hour going thru and explaining to her. It's really tough for P4, my DD is not too good in MT.. I think she is going to suffer :gloomy:

I think even if the kids have any doubts about the passage, they also dun really know how to ask questions ! My DS came back yesterday & told me that those answers that I told him were wrong too !

Welcome to the wonderful world of GEP where the homework of our kids befuddle us. I distinctly remember looking at my dd's project work in P5 and thinking that's what I did in university.

yup, already filled in the form for Maths Olympiad training, actually wanted to sign up Edu-Net too but the lessons are on the same days & time as Maths Olympiad training. Really hope can have alternative time slots as my DS2 is weak in English, needs to brush up but he prefers Maths Olympiad training, so no choice, have to respect his decision bcos he's the one going.

For CCA, really headache about the time slots. See they already have Tuesday CEP, Wednesday Mathe Olympiad (if sign up), term3 BEP every Monday, can foresee how busy they will be!

1. Computer Enrichment Programme (CEP)
Compulsory for all GEP pupils.
Every Tuesday, 2 - 3.30pm
Date of commencement: Term 1 Week 3, 17 Jan 2012
Note: CEP Term 1 Schedule has been distribute to the children this morning.

2. Bilingual Excellence Programme (BEP)
Selected pupils only.
Every Monday, 2 - 3pm
Date of commencement: Term 3
Note: Pupils who have been selected for this programme have received an official letter this morning

3. EL Language Games Workshop
Compulsory for all GEP pupils
4 sessions in Term 1 week 7 & 8
Dates: 20, 24, 27 Feb & 2 Mar 2012, 2 - 3.30pm
Date of commencement: 20 Feb 2012 (Monday)
Note: More information will be released at a later date

4. P4 Math Olympiad Training Programme (Optional)
Wednesdays, 2 - 3.30pm
Date of commencement: 18 Jan 2012 (Wednesday)
Note: Registration Forms and payment to be made to Math Teacher by tomorrow, 13/1 Fri.

As for CCA, dun think there is any time slot for them as most time has already been taken up by these enrichment programmes.
