I can't find it online, so.

From memory, the top score in:

      2011 - 265
      2010 - 268
      2009 - 273
      2008 - 275

I am pretty sure about 2010&2011, but the others ... That's what i remember. Hope this helps (:.

Gosh... the number is descending over the years

personally i feel that the top score is not as important as the number of students hitting a certain aggregate (eg 240 or 250 depending on which one you are interested in). 🙂

Hello everyone my DD is in class 1A this year. So far so good, think they have MT periods about once a day dadawee. Anyway, I am a little worried looking at the PSLE grades trend at PEPS, which seems to be sliding… whereas at BVPS and Keming their results are getting better. How ya? Anyone else have thoughts on this?

So, how long is a period now? I am so out of touch.
Well, about the PSLE results, I do understand your worries, but so far, do you think your DD is challenged by the school work right now? or is it too early to tell? hmm... anyone?

one period is half an hour. there are days when there are 3 periods for chinese. they are learning hanyu pinyin now.

regarding the sliding of the PSLE results, when i applied for the school i am aware of the results. There were some hesitation as well but in the end my hubby and i decide to go ahead and put him there.

To me, i think a child's learning abilities and willing to learn is very important more that what school he is in. Therefore, I focus a lot on my child in terms of learning and ensure that he is happy learning all the subjects. Not that he has to been the top in every subjects but to make sure that he is above average in all the subjects. If he is happy in learning, naturally, he will do well. Depending on how we see it, well, there are parents who feel that in the better school, the system is better in terms of stretching the child to a further step and they will do well in PSLE. This is quite true as well. Therefore, if i know that the school standard may be lower than those good school, i will have to put in more conscious efforts to ensure that he do well in school. Of course, i am also a little kiasu. I do send him to enrichment courses. I am a full time working mum and I am not good at teaching. I am worried that i will teach him the wrong concept and he gets confused. But I do a lot of reading with him.

I feel good about this school because it gives a humanistic feeling. Not sure how to describe that. It's just a feel. I maybe right or wrong. My child has been very happy going to school so far. He went to the library to borrow books. He talks about his friends and teachers. Happily learning the spelling for both chinese and english. No resistance. So far, I am quite happy with his happiness.

The form teacher called me yesterday to inform me about \"some mini accident\" happen to my child yesterday. Glad that she call at least I know what happen and is able to work together with the teacher to ensure his growth and development not only acedamically but socially and emotionally. This aspect is very important as well... to have a good teacher. I was really praying hard that he will meet with good teachers and friends in school.

He was sharing with me that one of his classmate didn't do well in his spelling. The teacher actually gave a ninja chop to cheer his classmate. I tot this is very good at least he knows and learns that it's important to encourage another person that is not doing well and not to see it as a failure. I tot this is quite cute.

Just share some of my tots... 😄

                      Hi Jamie999,

Thank you for the info ! I am so so glad that your DS's form teacher is so reachable and reaches out to the parents. I totally share the same tots with you. A child must enjoy going to school and enjoy learning and accepting challenging tasks as a fun thing and getting a good form teacher is also very important.

I used to teach (CCA) in pri schools and I do experienced students with and without parental support and I can tell you that it makes a great difference. Right now, I am home-schooling my DS all the subjects and I am trying to make sure that I am on track. It is definitely very tough esp now he is attending the elementary school here which takes up most of his time (8.30am - 3.50pm) and we have to put in Chinese lesson everyday for him and so it is kind of tiring for him too.

I used to look at the overall school results and make judgement (I looked thru so may PSLE satistic and comparison... can't even sleep well ... thinking about which school we should go for .. haha ) and after a realistic experience of sending my son to a school which makes me finally understand that that is not so important anymore. My son shared his daily school stories with me and I see the daily works the school has for him and at the end of the day, I feel that he is learning so much and so happy, I feel good. :)...Recently this elementary school did not manage to maintain their 4 Stars award but it totally does not bother me as I can clearly see the values that has been added to my son.
