Thanks deardear07. I am happy to meet to to photocopy the papers. Will throw in a cup of coffee too
We received the scholastic brochure some time ago. Yesterday got another b/w brochure for books. I just threw it away without looking cos got too many books already. I will only buy what is compulsory.
Btw - 1D parents. False alarm. Mrs Chan is still the FT but was on MC yday. I called the school and they said children sometimes pass the wrong msge. So if they know that, then why still place such great reliance on their memory

AhBa0, I can't upload the info. It's too big. I've e-mailed you. Let me know if you receive it.
yep got it.. thanks.botakgundul:
btw, would like to check with parents on the costings of food in the canteen.
I record all the canteen menu include its pricing. However, do take note the price may differ for Snack Heaven. I bought biscuit for my youngest one, it costs 50cents, however their price states 20-30cents. For the rest of the stalls, it's quite accurate. -

share the same thoughts..
I am rather upset with 1D. The communication is really lacking. Just found out from dd today that her form teacher has changed. I am not questioning the reasons behind the change but would prefer the school sends out a very brief info that this was happening. Until now, no news about Character Alive or any other info about whether to wear PE attire on days other than PE days and PALSD days. Why do I have to interrogate my dd every nite on what she remembers of the messages her teachers pass. Maybe I have been spoilt by my dd's childcare with the regular email updates etc and I am being niao.
Mrs Chan is pregnant, so let's give her some leeway and things unless major, should work themselves out.
I am trying to be tactful on asking my son on his work every night.. I would go like \"Isaac, any work tonight? \" \"No\".. \"sure?\" \"yes\", to a \"any surprises from teachers?\".. Else will stress him out.
I would think every teachers have their own ways/styles, so I am putting my patience hat and give Mrs Chan some time to resolve. If we get further feedback from other classes while not on 1D, then maybe, will drop an email to school and voice our \"gentle\" concerns.
but it is good that other parents are updating us. so we get the headsup.. and just prepare our children accordingly. so no surprises. -
After letting my kids do past year papers for almost coming to a decade, my opinion it is easier to order and hv them deliver to your doorsteps. Save u the hassle of zapping arranging going to the shop to collect.
Sometimes kids perceive things differently and hence may communicate the wrong msg.
It is best to reset expectations for every new year cos different teachers work differently. So there may be less angst on our part. Life is tough enough and we can do with less stress. I m more hands off and would prefer kids to learn independence gradually. It’s ok to forget some stuff sometimes, that way, they will learn to be responsible for their own stuff. Some chiding in life will also toughen them up.
I have seen parents who keep such close tabs that it became detrimental to the kids, esp when they go to sec schs. Kids who can’t learn independently suffer in the long run.
So Parents, take a step back and enjoy p1 and p2. There is more to come.

Regarding exam papers, you can also go here http://www.misskoh.com/ for free exam papers. Just that you have to download and print yourself.
Usually one can't finish all the exam papers from Jeremy's set. Too many. At the end of the year, if you have a quarter of each set for each subject left, it is already very good. -

Hi Fur-ma,
Qn about the Chinese spelling. DD says that for No. 6, the teacher told them to leave out the 2 dots above the \"u\" for purpose of the tingxie. I told her that must write in the dots when the \"u\" is alone but leave them out when another letter is placed beside it, e.g. yu (fish). Sorry. Hope I make sense.
If I recall, from dd's enrichment class, there was this 口诀 - \" j q x, 小淘气,看见u点就擦去\"。Not true that if there's a letter next to the 'u', then no need the 2 dots, coz some letters do form words with both the 'wu' and 'yu' sound, except j q and x. -
I agree with zeemimi’s post above.
We probably need to adjust our expectations a little. What our children used to go through in kindy or childcare centre cannot be applied the same to the primary school. My colleague who sends her kids to neighbourhood school also told me to get used to the fact that there’s very little communication nowadays. At least it helps to know that i’m not alone.
Of course, i would be concerned about what’s happening in class and if dd remembered what she’s been asked by her teacher to do, etc. But I’ve taken the attitude that if its important, the teacher should be telling the parent, like thru her blog, which she does. If its relayed through my dd, it means there’s room for forgetfulness/not urgent? So far, Mrs Choy has not given me BIG surprises, so i’m cool. Like I asked about the character alive thingy here, and other classes already have info, but not mine, i take it that teacher din see the need to inform yet… so far i have not resorted to emailing her yet, unless its absolutely necc. I think we have to also put ourselves in their shoes sometimes, its really not easy being a teacher, handling students and parents!
That’s why its good to have a common space here for us to share info. Its really a good source to turn to! Just that we also have to manage how we feel after seeing what’s happening to other classes. We still have a long road ahead for their education journey!
Just my thoughts. No offences I hope. -
No offense taken. all sound advices.
