:yikes: 14 a lotHi!
Been buzy with DD1 P1 and Dd2 also received her spelling list for Term 1. a little shock as there are 14 words for her spelling. Did a dry run yesterday and she knows 7 words out of the 14 , so 3 more days for her to catch up till friday spelling day.
7 words for English
5 words for MT
Today she got spelling for MT.Morning only I realised today has spelling. Then she prepared.I thought today she will get all wrong. But a surprise she got all correct.T said she improved a lot as no fear.Last year I prepared her well and she know how to write at home, but in school she didn't write properly and got wrong.
For English sometimes got all correct sometimes got one or two wrong cos of new words(out of the list) that had write according to sound. That words taught in the class. But very difficult to guess the words. She want all correct then I asked T.T said she will say the sound they have to write. Then I told her. Then She did the last spelling well. This year, next week onwards has spelling. -

I agree with u. :goodpost:Hi Club 2006..sorry to went missing in the past few days. Was busy with work and spring cleaning.
My DS was also handed 8 words of spelling and 4 words of Ting Xie for this term. Last Wed & Fri, my boy scored full marks for both spelling and ting xie..phew.
Probably to help fellow club mates, what I did was to first teach them the words and the meaning of it. Pure learning will bore them to it..once my DS knows all the words, then he will practice writing 8 to 10 times. Spell as he write and read upon complete of a word.
Then spot test my DS for 4 of the 8 words (spelling) and 2 of the 4 words (ting xie) in random sequence..else, they remember step by step which is risky and too systematic. After which, if still no confidence, practice in the car as we went place or go out.
Usually will give DS a trial the nite before..to give him confidence. More impt, praise if he got it right.
I did the same as u mention when I introduce the spelling. Then I say in order first. She remembered the words with the number. In the school T randomly checked, but she managed to write correctly.
For my son first(K1) they test in the same order as the list.So I always say in the same order as the list. Then in the second semestar or K2,they randomly checked,so that time I also checked randomly. -

Did put up some deco for the festive season, no visitors to my hse. WE will usually be out so didn't stack up on the tarts and goodies. -
