DS went for Robotics trial yesterday. There seemed to be more than 100 participants for the first day alone. Apparantly only 10 new members will be admitted into the club. Aiyoh... Why make life so stressful even for CCA ?
Agreed, my ds said waste of time.they ask a lot of questions and he reached home 7pm finished homework around 10.30pm.donu whether to let him go for others trials,it seems like some cca already target on those that are good and close door for those that just want to join in for fun.what is the purpose for the trials??? -
Can any parents share the link to EMB and the userid and password. My DS said he has forgotten about the link and did not want to probe too much as everynight he was drown in his piles of homework and last night complete all his homework by 1am.
He told him his classmate either go school earlier to do homework, or do during recess or inform teacher that he will stay behind after school to complete them. Just to gather some feedback if the same is happening to your DS class. -

DS will also be visiting his primary school after the dismissal too.DS has submitted his chinese laterns yesterday. This morning he brought along 一对春联 to dress up his classroom.
DS confirmed that the dismissal time on this Friday is 10am. He will be visiting his primary school with other Sec 1 HCI boys, 向老师们拜个早年! 恭喜恭喜! :celebrate:
Looks like the boys missed their primary school teachers.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as joining for fun for secondary school CCAs. Agreed that some trials are completely waste of time. During my DS' year, I rmb that he went for table tennis trials. After waited for one hour, he finally got a chance to play. And after playing for 1/2 hour, he asked his senior how was his chance of getting in. The senior replied: \"Don't know. The coach is not here today\" :stupid:Jeannie12:

Do you know which are the CCAs that one has a realistic chance of getting into ?Season:

DS CL teacher did not explicitly explain 饮 水 思 源 to them but told them they will learn from actions over the next 4 years! :salute:
At the end of the concert, you are highly encouraged to personally wish your teachers a happy Chinese New Year, and to return to your primary schools to do so as well. \"

Hi Jeannie12,
I dont know which CCA has better chance. My advice is;
1. Go for the trials as early as u can. Bcoz they might already shortlisted enough ppl and just through the motion for those late comers. Eg. My DS table tennis trial.
2. Do not take it 100% for sure if the coach or senior tell u that u are "in". I have seen many surprises already. Some kids stop going for trials after one CCA told them they are "in". They are seriously going to have a big problem later. So go for as many trials as possible. -

Dear Sama
Yes, i think all our DS are swarmed with work, projects, presentations, tests & more work. :slapshead:
For EMB, you can go via:
- HCI website
- Portals --> top right hand corner
- EMBs (High School) --> under \"Students Portal\"
User ID is (class)(index number) (eg. 1A317)
Password is Birth Cert no. in full caps, including \"prefix\" and \"suffix\" (eg. S1234567A)
DS is even told to do up a blog for Science.. to input what has been learned during every lesson/what he understood from the lesson into the blog.
With the homework, presentations, research, reading of Mao's/Empire (supposed to finish reading them), Xi You Ji, blogs, memorising 3 chinese songs & 1 eng song, etc.. I can already foresee him perspiring & studying during CNY.. :scared:
