Everyone starts on a level playing field in sec 1. The past is now History. Nobody cares what you scored in the psle nor which school you came from, and I think that should be the way. -
well said jtoh…. and I second it. to get into RGS, has to be top scorers… as the P mentioned…. RGS is based on meritocracy, more than 90+ over primary schs…kids are in every year…. We are talking specifically either S1 posting or GEP , academic :xedfingers: DSA. these gals are all distributed randomly from 101 to 113…. These gals are all high achievers, top 3% of the entire PSLE :rahrah: :grphug: cohort….

Not gg for 3rd Lang today?
Going to 3rd Lang. Don't know why her primary sch friends all go back to primary school. Some sch dismiss very early today. -
Really hope RGS P honours her word that all Y1 will start fresh again. Having phobea with dd’s primary sch systems whereby only the 1st class gain so many achievements. Really pity those form teachers who teach middle and behind classes.

Friendship,
Our DDs are now small fish in a BIG pond.
Remember what the P said?
It's not the size of the pond that matters, but rather the quality of the water.
Surely you have faith in the quality, if not, you would not have transferred your DD from DHS to RGS, right? -

Hello, I think you really ought not worry too much. It is really true that pupils are spread out equally except the SBGE or non-SBGE distinction. However, both GE and non-GE pupils excel equally well. Grades wise, there are pupils in mainstream classes obtaining 4.0, and those in GE classes getting 2.4. Opportunities wise there are pupils both mainstream and GE getting into special programs. And everybody gets the same materials, same tests, same teachers. I'm in SBGE and my teachers also teach the mainstream. And we learn the same things, I've checked. There is no difference, and even less so when you reach Sec 3. Sec 3 it is no longer random banding, but this is not based on achievement either, it's based on subject combination.
Also, it is true that all pupils start out on a fresh slate. I have a friend who didn't really do well in primary school, and got in the range of 250-255 for PSLE, but she's a DSA. She's doing very well with a 3.6ish average and also in a special-program RS. We also have national top PSLE scorers doing so-so only, both in terms of activities and grades. There are vice-head and head prefects who aren't in a leadership board, and there are those who were never leaders in primary school but do leadership boards now. Of course there are pupils who did well then and do well now, but it really depends on performance in school than in the past. You have the same chance to succeed regardless of past performance. There is only moving forward and future performance. Don't despair, there's still so much hope and possibility and you can only tarnish that by wailing that you won't make it. -

And where Opportunities R Concerned, even in Pri Sch .... It Differs.
My Gal Always Luv to be in the Second Top Class in her sch -
Less Pressure, Same Opportunities, and .... Same Amt of HW
Their FT is tasked with Performance Target Too! May Not be the Top PSLE 3% range (that is for the Top Class -ma! Ha Ha ....),
but definitely the Top 5 to 10% PSLE Range! Of Course if can Reach Top PSLE 3% Results, Lagi Best!

What a child says is definitely right. PSLE score means nothing in RGS. Even if you are like the top scorer, there's equal treatment! Everyone in RGS is fantastic(that's why we are here~), so there's no different treatments!
RGS is a new chapter. They don't look at your PSLE score anymore. Who's going to ask for it when you are in JC? Nobody cares. It is really what you should do NOW, instead of what you did in the PAST. The past is the past!
Even someone like me from a neighbourhood school also made my way here. There really is no difference in GE and non-GE! A lot of non-GE students end up in GE classes too, so it really is fair opportunities for everyone. There also is no such thing as \"oh GE class!!! I shall appoint more prefects here.\" Everyone gets the same thing, regardless of how glorified your past is.
And the teachers who teach middle and end classes, i think they are the ones who really are good, and deserve praises. I mean, not everyone wants to do their job right? They have to keep watch on naughty students, try to teach them, try to improve their grades(aka average perf. of sch). It's no easy task, compared to the 1st few ones(who you hardly need to teach and they are alr kiasu+good enough). -
Our rgs girls here really contributed very good comments, well done!

yes totally agree with you, En-joy. It is great to know that RGS is not all abt producing academically smart girls but also mature and sensible young ladies.
