Hi Yippie131,Happyavon and Xuan,
Glad to hear tht u've make the right choice, mind to share the school fees for nursery? Do they provide transport?
Shaws charges $800 for half-day and $1100 for full day. Both rates are before subsidies. The rate applies to childcare for 18mth till K2.
They have school bus but I am not sure about the charges. -
hi happyavon,
my child is now in the PN class, and i hope to let her continue all the way till K2. i'm very happy with shaws, and you're right, all the weekly updates, photos and excursions ensure that we parents don't miss out on the child's life while we're at work.
hi yippie131,
i think the school bus fees might vary depending on your location. i enquired previously, and it's $150 per child (i stay near kembangan).
the school bus has seat belts for each child, and there is even a school bus auntie to jaga over the children. not to mention they have a tv screen in the bus playing fave children shows. i think as far as school buses go, the school bus service at shaws is very good. -

Hi, I just went to Kinderland academy to visit the place coz my baby is turning 18 mths in jan 08 and needs to reserve a place for her in some sort of pre-nursery. I wasnt very pleased with the condition of the outdoor swings, etc.. it looks so dirty and dangerous. I went inside for a tour and the kids were napping so was unable to see how the teachers treat the kids. but thanks for the abv information coz I sensed that the principal was not that sincere and was all sales talk. She couldnt answer when i ask what logical thinking programs are they teaching.. she just answered it has a theme..Don't be fooled by kinderland academy's on the whole curriculum or safe caring environment as the principal claims. Visited during lunch and was shocked at the food being served to the children there. Plain rice, almost water clear soup and sausages in some kind of tomato sause. When i looked at the menu, they were supposed to be serving claypot rice on that day.
While checking around with other freinds who used to have kids in kinderland, they commented that they have a high withdrawal rate due to the menu. Food is not healthy and the school is stingy with the portions given to kids.
Also, the teacher put a nice sweet front infront of parents. But behind closed doors there is alot of shouting and even the teacher tease the children( got this info from the kitchen aunt who used to work there). The principal is also ver pretentious and i can tell frm the way she suddenly shows attention to the kids infront of us parents. Kind of sick actually.
I won't pay so much to put my child in a so called \"branded\" school when such things are going on behind closed doors.
Anyway, I am thinking of Brighton Montessori at Fort Road but they are so full i need to place on a half year waiting list.
I prefer learning through play but it should also have academic to prepare the kids for the 'academic' environment for Kindergarten and above...but on the other hand, i worry it may be too boring for my baby since she is already going on to numeric and problem solving on her Glenn doman Maths and volume 2 of glenn doman reading program.
I find that if its all play, the kids may find it hard to adjust when the classes in P1 gets serious.
Please feel free to comment or recommend any pre-nursery half day. -

My daughter loves the school. She has a lot of fun there too. The gym exercises are really good at making her bounce around. She can even do head rolls by herself now... a feat that she refused to do during her earlier Saturday ABGS gym lessons.rinoa:
oh...are u guys in toddler A as well....
good to know
mine came back home.......super worn out.
think still need some time to adapt to no afternoon naps...hehe
And yes, have to adjust her to sleep later in the morning to stay awake in the afternoon!
Guess we will be staying there for a while - so it's time to buy the uniform :).

She's still there. Oh... for kids under 4yo they only have playgroup activities for 3.5hrs in the afternoon. No full day classes like normal childcare services. They only have full day classes for 4yo and above....
