That's why i shared she has to look
into other options instead of looking
for who it is up there, who in my honest
opinion will be of least help to her. Having

ahead with the need to inform an MOE officer.

From my experience with GEP branch, which I think is the appropriate people to approach, they will lend a sympathetic ear, and then suggest you do one of those in the list anyway.

While GEP kids are treated with some nice treatments, it is not within the prerogative of the branch to look into the transport difficulties, else we can imagine how swamped they may be with similar requests. Though we empathize with the problems and difficulties faced, it is not something uncommon in Singapore students, so there are solutions, though they might not be perfect. Look, it is just for another 3 years. Not that long term lah. For Sec school, hopefully the kid is bigger and has more options.

Correct. From our experiences with schools.. principals.. bus operators.. it's the same as well... everywhere.

There is indeed NO perfect solution like one for all. If there is then yes, perfect.
But what we can do is to find a solution that can fit us better if we really have no eye to see the trpt service offered to us anymore.

This one is a bit of a stretch on choice as the choices are not real choices. One cannot be giving up GEP just because MOE cannot make enough centres round the island. If the constraint is MOE's then some feasible support should be extended.

They are real choices.

Parents know of the GEP schools available island wide.
Those are the choices given to students and parents.
We work around what choices are given... if we choose
to take up the GEP offer. No one is asking anyone else
to give up GEP at all. Constraints are well... constraints
hence the word. Feasible support by MOE? Pertaining to
transport issues... not under their jurisdiction ain't it?

School's support is there. Which is the fact that they DO
have buses who do bother to go all the way to remote
places to ferry children to school.

Parents have the choice whether to take up the service or
not after having been informed of the pick-up and drop
off time. Not only that.. parents also have to consider the
possibility of buses not being able to pick up the children
after CCA and supplementary too when the children level
up. Afternoon commitments with school may not be able
to be avoided.

As mentioned already by some of us here, if really die die
bus cannot accommodate & there can't be any compromise
due to prior contract and commitments btwn bus operators
and workers... must be prepared to make other arrangements
or sacrifices.

We support our children the best way we can. It's understandable.

[/quote]Anyway, prior to the choice of school posted to, this parent has no idea what the transport issues would be like and the timing of the school is not known either. There is actually not much of choice as the choice of school is largely determined by the GE branch based on their own posting criteria. However, I agree there are solutions around all these constraints as mentioned by 2ppaamm, choiceless choice......if you insist on using the word choice..... :rotflmao:

Hi Everyone, thank you all so much for your advice, support and suggestions.


It is also good to know that I am not the only parent feeling the same and I am not "weired" as what the bus operator try to convince me that I am, when I talk to them on this.

I feel that something is done wrong here to our children, our students and something must be done about it.

I sincerely feel that alot of the traffic issue around sch is because of bus operators quality of service thus creating another problem where more and more parents decided to send their children to school themselves
