[Queenstown] Primary Schools
-
Hi ChiefKiasu,
Thank you for your feedback, we have not go to these two school to have a look but understand that New Town Pri will be moving to new campus in 2009.
We will do so over the weekend. -
Hi all,
what a Godsend this site is! Thanks mods for setting it up, may not remove the stress of P1 registration but can at least share the angst.
I live in the West Coast area and the reality is that I have nothing to speak of within 2k of my house. Blame me for lack of foresight but when I moved a few years back, proximity to a Primary school wasn't a consideration at all  . Here's the rub, the 2 closest schools to my place are Nan Hua and Fairfield, and I have been accepted as PV to both.
Unfortunately, my experience thus far has been underwhelming. I have done a few hours at NH, and FMPS, after having confirmed acceptance, has not followed up at all. My plea for help;
1) Both schools are really tough to get in. Based on 2009 admission exercise, it appears that FMPS PV did not have to ballot, regardless of distance. Is this true? I know NH PV had to ballot.
2) Is it typical for school admin to be lukewarm in engaging PV? I have sent a few e-mail but have received \"We'll get back to you\" replies only.
Thanks much! -

You may find more information about http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/queenstown to answer your own question.
Why not call up the school directly about your PV arrangements? You need to start soon to make it in time for the 2009 exercise. -

Wow u are very lucky, I know of alot of ppl who applied to PV under Nan Hua unsuccessfully, including me myself. Here's the rub, the 2 closest schools to my place are Nan Hua and Fairfield, and I have been accepted as PV to both.

Since u stay out of 2km for both schools, I would think Fairfield is a better choice as there were no balloting under phase 2B for the last 2 years, whereas NanHua conducted balloting for >2km applicants. But then, Fairfield has church associates who qualify under phase 2B too... Of coz every year it's different. U can clock 40 hrs for both schools then check at the actual time of registration, how many applicants there are. But a surer way would be to move to either 1km of NanHua or Fairfield, then just concentrate your hours in one school will do, better than end up with neither. -

thank you for the reply. I don't know to consider myself 'lucky' or not, honestly
. But certainly will be focussing my efforts on one school, time is short and I don't intend to quit my job to be a full time PV! The day I put up my first post, FMPS suddenly gave me a call and made some arrangements, maybe school administrators are monitoring this forum
-
LOL… what sort of arrangements did FMPS make?
Actually 40 hrs quite easy to clock, no need to quit your job at all! Do NHPS and FMPS allow both parents to clock? If so, that be better. I rem me and my husb clocked during a school funfair on a weekend (no need take leave even) of 9 hours each. Multiply by 2 and it was almost half the job done! -

Its in a sport. I hope they will be flexible about what activities I can do, 3 school terms is not a lot of time.LOL.. what sort of arrangements did FMPS make?

Hi, I have gone into the New Town and Queenstown Primary website to take a look. But I realised that New Town has not posted any of their PSLE results (over the past years) in the site.
Does any know how I can have access? -

Just call up the school and ask them nicely. Identify yourself as a parent evaluating the school. Then report to us what you learn from the school. Besides being kiasu, we are all very kaypoh too :).Hi, I have gone into the New Town and Queenstown Primary website to take a look. Precisely the reason why I am still lurking around this thread even though I have already registered my girl into a school!
