Secondary School Literature

Thanks so much, Mdm Koh, for the insights to poetry. I am also hopeful to find some sample papers for my child to try at home and if anyone could guide me to some sample papers? Really desperate and was trying my best even to understand poetry… sorry for my kiasuism…

Hi anythinglah. Is your child's school doing any particular set of poems for sec 1 / sec 2? For example some schools do modern Singapore poetry or World War I poetry. Then that can at least help us narrow down to a certain set of resources.

Did he misinterpret the poem or prose given?
There's no real way to study for unseen Lit questions, but your DS can try to familiarise himself with literary terms and the common symbols and imagery employed by writers.
For novels, the students have to know the text and memorise the quotations to support their analyses. -
Can someone give an example on how Point, Evidence and Elaborate is used on Lit book, Julius Caesar?

Super Alice,
Here Are some links to the study guide. There is also a workbook with exercises.
I suggest you print these out before the link becomes inaccessible.
