I understand that Maths Hub compiles a list of its students' achievement in MO competitions. PH does not seem to compile such a list. U can visit any Maths Hub to look at the published MO booklets, I hv seen the list of achievements in these booklets.Hi Dyh,
Do you know how do the PH student perform during the past math olympiad? -
P5 syllabus is indeed the heaviest of all 6 yrs.. hence maybe more hours is needed but that does not means that teacher slow down during regular lesson times lor.. Actually, 2 days per wk for PH is not that bad liao.. My fren's kid have to extend up to 3pm for all P3-P6 DAILY!!! Why the need to do so?? Dunno also..I joking told her that if the teachers can 'teach' and helps in results, good for her kid but if there to waste time then might as well pay for tuition classes...

PH only send selected kids to MO trainings. U can opt to go on your own outside sch. Mathhub is one fav choice. There are many centers like Mind Stretcher which is run using Terry Chew's MO syllabus, Math Oasis which also run AMC ( American Math Competition) and MO and many many more..
I had send DS for SASMO competetion in P3 but not the class ..I kinda trained him myself..
The purpose is for exposure rather than winning anything..good experience for him though..
SASMO usually runs the competition in May ard SA1 timing..bad timing .. but boh pian.. they just started the P3/4 papers which is only 15 questions and suited for their level rather than the full paper meant for P5/6.. -

PH sends selected students for training? hmm...I wonder based on what criteria? Whatever it is, it is not based on the exam results alone.PH only send selected kids to MO trainings. Just asking for bro php *ahem*, for Math Hub, do they have a class for both MO & normal Math? Like trying to kill 2 birds in 1 stone kind?
yes, he is at bukit batok math hub. if they think your child is doing well, they will also put him/her in an accelerated class. -

I remember DS brought some paper back which showed that CA1 is held end of Feb. But I cannot find the paper now. Anyone can confirm the CA1 timing?
DS seldom has any homework in last 2 years. So far, he has been bringing homework this year (P3), mainly Maths and Science taught by the same teacher, who happens to be HOD Sxxxxxx.
DS complains this teacher writes on the white board and the children copies and then homework will be given. Seems that not much teaching or explanation. I rem reading comments on this teacher, so I am quite worried for DS. Plus, I am extremely busy at work recently and no time to coach him. He will wait for me to come home to teach him.
What should be written when the worksheets ask for Concept? Currently, doing chapter on Living things and Non-living things.
I will try to join in BBQ next roundβ¦as I am staying in Toh Yi too and to get pointers from all experienced mums & dads.
