This year intake is 170 students from JAE and 130 are girls!

South African:
how many places for JAE into Yr 5 every year? Out of which, is there any quota for ACSI express students or bonus pts?
There are supposed to be 450+ places in Year 5 every year. Of these, about 330+ are taken up by ACS(I) Year 4 IP students (which shouldn't be the case). That leaves about 120 places (again, supposedly).
In the original plans, there weren't supposed to be more than a total 120 IP students in the ACS(I) IB cohort. Even before the first batch began, it had already expanded to about 360. Now there are 450, and possibly even more in the pipeline.
How come? Well, in 2015, the first MGS IP Year 4 girls will go straight into ACS(I) Year 5... heh heh. -

Heh heh. What do you think the budget is like at ACS(I)? I tell you, the most important admin officer (and one of the most intelligent) at ACS(I) is the Bursar.

If there are already 330 IP boys coming from ACSI in Year 5, and say 100 from MGS when their IP kicks off, that doesn't leave very much space for JAE intake. Unless ACSI increases its IB resources to cater to a much enlarged intake.South African:

Has MGS started their IP. Current Sec 1 is still on 'o'level track right?

I think this is how it works, unless accelerated by one year across the board:
Sec 1 MGS IP of 2013 will enter ACS(I) IBDP in 2017 and graduate from ACS(I) in 2018. Sec 3 MGS IP of 2014 will enter ACS(I) IBDP in 2016 and graduate from ACS(I) in 2017.
A similar staggered design was used when the ACS(I) programme was set up. Our first batch was Year 3 ACS(I) IP of 2004, which became ACS(I)'s first IBDP batch in 2007. Our second batch was Year 1 ACS(I) IP of 2003, which became ACS(I)'s second IBDP batch, graduating in 2008. -

I doubt they'll be able to cater to a much larger intake. The DPs keep saying that ACSI is already the largest IB school and they really have limited resources. The number of students continues to increase every year though, so maybe they're slowly preparing for a larger intake? -

The math works out something like this: the initial class size was about 20+, which increased to about 23-24. In theory, those classrooms can accommodate 30 students I think; I remember squeezing 32 once, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you expand class size but not classes, you can have more...jtoh:

I know of someone who transfered from RGS to ACSI year 5 for IB.
This one is thru DSA right since obviously the person has no O level results.
