im more concern over food.. meals.. than cleanliness.. how do u manage dinner for kids?

I usually prepare them in mid morning after coming home from market. I'll cook soup with thermal pot. 1 veg, usually plain (wash, soak) 1 meat dish either steam fish (marinate and wrapped and store in fridge), braised pork etc... put rice in cooker and set timer to ready at 5pm. All preparations will end at about 1230. When members return for dinner at 6, I'll start cooking/heating.

If one pot dish, easier...cook in mid morning eg. stew, casserole, braised.

why need to wrap ? taste better ?

Feeling kinda lost as I have just sent off my maid for stealing ciggies and smoking…

So far, have done takeaways for the past few nights, but it is not something that I wanna do long-term… Any suggestions on how i can dish up quick meals with minimal clean ups??

Have suggested to my hubby to visit Tangs sales for cardmembers tomorrow and see if there are any appliances that can help us, but he doesnt want… SIGH… any one has good suggestions on whats a must have or good to have?

          Thanks!

There are many dishes that are easy to cook and much better than takeaways. One pot meals are the easiest. Just dump a chicken (get the seller in the market to chop it up into big pieces) into a pot with an onion, potatoes and carrots and boil it with water until everything is soft. Season to taste and serve with rice or bread. I find the thermal cooker or crockpot very useful; but any ordinary pot will also do. Idea is to have meat and vegetables together to have a balanced meal. Other variations may include pork ribs and sweet corn soup; seafood hot pot (just make the soup out of pork and chicken bones and put in fish slices, prawns , toufu , fresh mushrooms, vegetables and fishballs); chicken, lotus root and peanut soup and bakut teh (buy packet spices and serve soup together with fried green vegetables). If your family members do not like soup, then you can try to make simple pasta dishes and stew.

                SMH FOREST,
I got Happycall pan to aid me in whipping up the dishes, faster and less grease on the stove and hence minimal clean up. Faster due to the pressure cooking feature of this pan. This afternoon I just cooked the curry chicken within 20mins, potatoes are super soft. Can use this HCP to bake and grill too.

For soup, those need long hours I just dump all the stuffs into the slow cooker and set it to auto mode. It would be ready by dinner. Another fast way to cooking soup is use of pressure cooker.

Also if doing a steam dish, place it into the rice cooker to cook with the rice. My dinner usually can be serve within 30 mins.
