Staying within 1 km of Ai Tong will not gurantee you a place in P1 Registration… You will be disappointment if you do move there and can’t get into AI…

If die die you really want to get to AI TOng please register and be a member of the Hokkien Huay Guan…

I tink the safer choice would be Mee Toh too.

      🙂

        LSKj:
We stay at tampines...My hubby was an old boy of Mee Toh...Furthermore, Mee Toh is at Ponggol, location seems to be quite out of the way..thinking of moving to Toa Payoh...

        Hi LSKj!

Not that I am encouraging you to move, but I am just curious. Is Tampines really so out of way to Punggol? In addition, if you are willing to move house to Toa Payoh/Bishan just to get into Ai Tong, why don't you move to Punggol just to be nearer to Mee Toh so that it won't be \"out of the way\"? I understand that Mee Toh is an equally good school, too. :?

Um, Hokien clan membership does not entitle to the recommendation letter for phase 2b. Demand and supply comes into play - my understanding is that Aitong is one of the more popular schools, so their selection criteria (who to issue that letter) is tighter than for other clan-associated schools. If you are going that route, check with the staff there.

Unless, you can get into PV of peichun, and living less than 1km, else I think you can quite forget it.

Yup, mee toh will be the safest bet - nonid to think, nonid to move house (amidst this crazy market).

Yes, from Tampines to Mee Toh School use TPE exit Punggol would be very fast. Maybe a better option is to move to Punggol 21 where walking distance to MTS is the best.

Hi all, my girl is due for P1 in 2013 (3 yr old now) and I was an ex-student of Nanyang Pri School (NYPS). Shld I use \"ex-student\" category/alumni to get my child in the school? I was actually advised not to (by a teacher friend) as NYPS is very demanding and places too much unnecessary stress on children to excel. But I can see that there are alot of parents who are trying every way possible to get into school! Your thoughts?

Hi, my eldest girl is due to register for P1 next year. I am getting anxious as I felt I had started too late in the process of finding more info & being a PV in the schools of our choice.

I would prefer to put my girl in St Nicholas Girls but we are not within the 2km range. Is it too late to sign up as a PV? Which phase does it falls in the registration if we are PV not within the 2km range. And based on past statistics, what are the chances of getting a place in that phase?

As we are staying in Sengkang, the nearest schools in my area are Anchor Green & Nan Chiau.

I have read from MOE's website on the statutory declaration on the use of grandparents/sibling's address as guardian. One of the conditions stated that both parents must be working full-time. As I'm a SAHM with 2 more young kids, can I still qualify for this if I want to use my sibling's address to register my girl in the school that is within 1km of their address?? How long is the duration that I have to stay employed full-time to qualify for this??? What abt part-time or contract employment, do we qualify? Anyone in this situation as well?? Pls advise.

                :?
                :?:

                    hi incredigal,

don’t just listen to hearsay - they may not apply to YOUR kids. My cousin’s 2 kids from NYPS are well adjusted and happy kids - I asked them about stress and they said don’t have leh.

Standard for NYPS may be high compared with other schools, but it also means they are exposed to much more programs that other schools do not have.

Don’t give up your chance…it’s a dream to be in your position.

PV starts July this yr and should finish by Jun next yr. You should be apply for PV last yr. However, it does not mean you apply you get it.
Which phase does it falls in the registration if we are PV not within the 2km range
If you are PV and outside 2km, you belong to phase 2B.
And based on past statistics, what are the chances of getting a place in that phase?
I didn't look at this sch's past stat. But it is reasonable to say that sch try to admit same no. of PV as possible vacancies but they can't tell no. of RC / grassroots volunteers. If more PVs than vacancies, then ballot.
As we are staying in Sengkang, the nearest schools in my area are Anchor Green & Nan Chiau.
Nan Chiau is a good sch. Go for it.
can I still qualify for this if I want to use my sibling's address to register my girl in the school that is within 1km of their address??
No. Declaration only for grandpartents. Registration requires birth cert which show your add and the relationship of child to you.

Thanks caroline3sg. I just called up Nan Chiau to enquire. The PV is closed. I will fall under phase 2C below 1km which still need to ballot.

Based on this year's stats under that phase, the vacancies is abt 30%.

                        😢

Any idea if ACJC is affiliated to MGS???
