@1: I also reach home at almost 7 on CCA days. Except mine is 2 times a week and not 3. Well, there are a lot of sports CCA students in RGS too, if they can cope, i'm sure you can too:) Plus it's not easy to get in!
2)It's ok! You have many more gos in the future. Don't let this affect you too much, i'm sure there are people in the same boat too.
3)You will get the hang of it soon! At first i also wanted to quit 3rd after the 1st lesson, but after a while you will know how/what to study already. Don't talk about quitting yet! I'm sure you can do it eventually.
And what's wrong with the people:O
Yes we seniors love you guys too

just some words of encouragement….. :xedfingers: Always think positively! U are not alone, the entire RGS has been there, done that and still doing it. Rafflesian is one big ship, everyone onboard sailing towards a common journey!..many if not most will reach home after 7pm, sleep at 12am or later, wake up at 5.30am….. it's part of the training towards \"daughters of a better age\" :imcool: stay focus and preserve……... :grphug: -
CCA system is still biasness and loopholes.
dd feedback all interviews were conducted by a teacher and the seniors. some seniors are quite influential even the teachers have to listen to them.
dd’s classmate got into all the 6 CCAs including 2 uniform groups that she chose. Simply because her sister is the ‘second in command’ in one of the uniform groups. All the sisters’ friends were in charge of the other CCA interviews and selections.
Those who have senior sisters have all the benefits and advantages. There is still biasness. -
IP and those who are taking 'O ’ level are using different system in grading, is it?
dd’s friend in St Nick is going to have CA1 next week, similar to primary school system. Whereas RGS using project assignments for grading? -

Oh dear. Did your dd get into the CCA she wanted? She was interested in Guides right?CCA system is still biasness and loopholes.

Dd checked with nearly all her classmates, no one qualified for all the 6 choices. Some waitlist, some didn’t get any response, some get in the one not in favor.
Dd got into her choice.
This classmate of hers is not even a charismatic nor possesses a leadership quality, can pass all 3 uniform group interviews?
Anyhow, thru all these competitiveness, dd learns life experience. -

Maybe that girl has qualities which she hasn't shown to her classmates but shines through during interviews? After all, her classmates have only known her for a month?Dd checked with nearly all her classmates, no one qualified for all the 6 choices. Anyway your dd got into Guides so that's good for her. I can imagine how upset you would be if she didn't get into Guides. -

I really have to thank you.
Every time I read your posts, it makes me reflect upon myself and better appreciate all the little things in life.
Why can't you just accept that there are girls who are naturally more talented or gifted than your DD? At least your DD has an offer from the CCA of her choice. Why do you still sound so bitter?
My DD has sports training under professional coaches, but like her peers, she had to prove her worth...attend 2 trials and pass the interview. Never once did we take it for granted that she would automatically have an offer from the CCA of her choice. That's fairness for you!
Did you read today's Straits Times? Home, page 4, about this girl who was killed while going to school.
If not for that reckless driver, the girl, same age as our DDs, could have been a student of RGS.
She could have been your DD's classmate!
Sadly, her bright future was cut short!
She was never given the opportunity to mull over her CCA choices...
She would never have the opportunity to enjoy the bitter-sweetness of secondary school life...
And the driver was only jailed for a week!
That is unfairness for you!
Count the little blessings in life!

i have been keeping mum over some comments that you have posted as I believe everyone is entitled to their opinions/views.
However, I feel that it is not very fair for you to comment on whether your DD's classmates really has charisma/leadership qualities. Perhaps, the panel saw sth in her that you and others were not able to spot, afterall you were not on the panel right ?
And have you ever wondered perhaps this girl's mom could be a silent participant on ksp forum. Turn around and think what if some other mom passes similar comments on your DD, how would you feel ? Afterall, here we all knew that your DD appealed to RGS and got in but no one on ksp thot any lesser of your DD versus the rest who went in via the \"rightful\" route thru S1 posting. No offence meant, i am just trying to make an illustration.
If you read abt how CCAs are being allocated in other schools on ksp, you will notice that this is a schoolwide problem, there are many who claim to be good in a particular CCA in their primary school but was not given that same CCA in Sec school and even encounter friends without the same experience and yet given that CCA they so badly wanted.
I think we all know that the education system is not perfect, in life there is not always fairness. However, all of our DDs here are already the fortunate lot who got into one of the best schools in Sngapore. So let us just appreciate what we have and let the little things go, then everyone will be happy. If our DDs sometimes do not get the things the way they want at RGS, then let us as their parents use this as an opportunity to teach them how to compromise and accept certain decisions (no matter how unfair things may seem). This will allow them to mature and in time learn to manage their expectation in school and in the big world out there.
Anyway i am happy for your DD who got her choice of CCA, mine has no firm offer, she is on waitlist for 2 CCAs. i hope she gets one of the waitlist but if the school allocates her a CCA that is not even withinher 6 choices, I will tell her it is OK, just go with an open mind and maybe you would even grow to like it, if not, take it as a new learning experience and do your best while waiting for a chance to try out for your favourite CCA again in Yr 3
