Hi,Hi there, I'm a full time working mom and new to this forum. My son is born in Sep 2008 and is now attending nursery class.
I came to this forum becos I need help.... sigh.
My son told me he doesn't want to go school and will cry everyday when my mom send him to nursery.
Teacher said he normally cried for at least 30 mins. Tehn when come to story telling, he sometimes will pay attention but when comes to interaction times, he doesn't really like to mix around with other kids.
Can someone please let me know how can I help my son?
If I send him to weekend classes like art class, will it help him to mix around with other kids?
I totally understand ur situation. My DD was like tat when she 1st entered N1 in CC. Cried almost every transition lesson. Some kids cry 4 short while, few mths, even 1yr! My DD cried 1yr! Though frm many times per day till few times, till once in the morning. Usually after I left, she will stop.
To send ur boy to wkend classes, I tink u hv to observe ur boy if he get anxiety, uneasiness or worry in different environments. My DD can't. So I din send her to any cos I do not want to add more stress on her. I hope she will outgrow the crying game & can participate like any other kids... -
hi all! i'm a newbie... been reading on and off to keep myself updated about the \"kid-rearing\" scene.
i'm living in Marine Parade, DD1 born 2006, deciding between Haig Girls' and Ngee Ann Primary...
DD2 born in nov 2008, and will just follow whatever sch DD1 ends up in. saves me the stress! haha!forrestgump4:
both my girls are in full-day childcare, so i'm kinda familiar with your scenerio... there are kids in the sch who cry every morning when their parents leave them there. there were 1-2 who actually did that for like 1 year? so, it's actually kinda \"usual\" i guess. like ur son, most of them will calm down and stop after a while. it takes getting used too. i think mixing with other kids help, and a lot of constant encouragement from parents help too. keep enforcing the positives of going to sch, like how fun it is, how many frens he can play with, etc.Hi there, I'm a full time working mom and new to this forum. you can also try \"rewarding\" him with stuff like his fav snack or stickers, etc, for each day he \"improves\" in the morning routine. that could help. if using stickers, you can do a \"reward chart\" kinda thing? so he gets to paste the stickers, and at the end of each week, maybe he can get a treat of some kind? the chart works for my girls when i am trying to adjust their behaviour in certain areas.
just keep reinforcing the postive and encouraging him. positivity goes a long way!

Hi all the mummies here,
Am a newbies here, we just move to S’pore. Currently am looking for pre-school for my elder son, can anyone recommend me any good pre-school? We are staying in Ghim Moh Link.
Thanks. -
Hi all,
I am new to KS forum.
my eldest son was also borned in 2008. Now he is currently in PCF Nursery class (3hrs session). Somehow I feel that he does not like his current class or school. Everyday he would says he does not want to go class at all.
Last year, when he studied in playgroup (also 3 hrs session) and he enjoyed himself there. I am not sure if it because of the teachers or friends. :slapshead:
And now I am starting to kancheong for his P1 registration as well! Have to choose the schools carefully cos no.2 and no.3 will follow him as well! -

Ur son been to any class prior to this nursery? The crying may take 1-2 mths for some kids. Perhaps u can bring him to those playgym, mingle and play with other kiddos?
Great news! My son now no longer cry le! Because he wants to buy a toy car and he promised not to cry. It seems like he want that toy car really badly....Now I will monitor further to see if he still cries. Hee. -

Talking abt positive reinforcement, my son likes this particular car from watching Youtube! And I told him I will buy for him but he cannot cry in the sch. And he really did not cry. Now he will keep remind me to buy that car for him. Haha, dunno whether this method will work for him in future or not.... -

Err... I dont tink tat is a good idea to \"bribe\" ur son wif toy in order to stop him frm crying.. scare in future, everything u wan him to do, must come wif a price (toy)
Jz like alot of experienced parents out there say, dun give in to the kids' crying jz becos he or she cry, dun wan go sch. Cos nw the kids r smart...
IMHO... -
Hardly any 2008 mummies here? Very quiet…
Did u all load ur kids wif alot or few enrichment classes?
I jz started to enrol my gal to art class. want her to get independent… 1st lesson, cried. Argh… then tell me dun wan to go anymore. But i intend to be "heartless", will still bring her there. Hope she can adapt to new environments…
