School bus fare

Snow Crystal:
Thus given that the drivers have to make a living and as long as the amount is not exorbitant, I have no problem with paying for the two extra non school months. However, I wish all the buses have bus aunties to ensure safety of the kids, look out for bullying in bus and correct poor behavior.
:goodpost:
my boy's presch bus auntie/uncle are so friendly and so nice to see him coming home with smiles on his face having joked with either of them on the way home...not really possible for big buses in pri sch next year i guess.
kids on sch bus bound to be exposed to some bad behaviour/words; just yesterday, my K2 shared said so-and-so said what-and-what; luckily he said he knows such behaviour is not acceptable.....at home (but dunno if he'll do so on the bus! :faint:) -
For CCA, I have to pay$5 for every trip the bus driver goes back to pick her up at a later timing. If you find the school bus charging too high, you can call up the school to help them resolve the issue. This was what I did.

Oops… I mean ask the school to help talk to the bus driver.

So how much were you charged before the school talked to the bus driver? -
$120 extra for reserving a seat for my gal which she won’t be taking until the following month. The school help me talk to bus driver. My husband says these bus drivers are appointed by the school so they must help the parents.

$120!!!

Hmm…you wore the same reaction as my husband.

I used to pay $45 for both way.. including June and Nov/Dec.. so total a year is $45 × 12 = $540. And if there is CCAs or extra lessons, pay additional from own pocket for public transport. So is $540++.
Then, I decided to change operator.. Now, I pay $0.55 per trip, as and when required. I pay the same whether got CCA or extra lessons or not.. and I don't pay a single cent during school holidays..
Now it costs around $25/mth × 10 = $250/yr or less..
Mine is within 1km, btw.. -

Ya.. they wouldn't change..Understand that these drivers need to eat and still pay for the buses even though we do not use their service in June and Dec. However, I have always felt that they could have incorporated that june & Dec fees into the other 10 mths. At least that way, parents won't get that 'arm kenna twisted' and being made to pay when no service is rendered. And there are those parents who feel that since I paid for June & dec, why am I not getting the school bus service when my kid needs to go to school during the holidays.
I have asked the bus drivers that my centers engage about this and they say aiyah all the while like that, want to change oso difficult.
If they factor into the 10 month, then parents may decide some months don't take (Mar, Nov etc).. or halfway thru if their kids attend CCAs etc.., they may find it not worthwhile and discontinue anytime..
By asking them to pay for Jun/Dec.. is like holding them ransom.. Since they already paid for the 2 months.. if they stop.. it's like money down the drain for nothing.. so most just continue for the whole year..
Anyway.. I couldn't stand their way so I change operator..
to SBS Transit..
