This doesn't apply only to politicians, but also to anyone who has fallen by the wayside, including our children. At the same time that we are complaining that Singapore is an unforgiving society and doesn't help the late bloomers or anyone who makes mistakes, perhaps we, ourselves, may also be perpetuating this unforgiving outlook.
Incidentally, the latest news is that his ex-wife is a HOD at RI. She has stated that their marriage did not fall apart due to an affair, but due to other reasons. -

I understand where you are coming from. But the issue now is not about whether we're forgiving. If he had stepped up and apologised, I'm sure this whole unfortunate event will blow over sooner as the people will forgive him if he's genuinely repentent.
But now the whole issue is about how many of the supporters are saying morally whether it's right or not , it does not matter as long as he's doing a good job. Afterall, it is his private affair. It made the whole mistake seem like it's such a trivial matter.
Mind you, he's married, not just a single swinging flirt.
Can you imagine him talking at a rally about how everything should be transparent blah, blah ,blah..will you buy that? According to some reports, the WP colleague is not the only gal he has. (the lady was interviewed)
Anyway, at least LTK did the next best thing by removing him from his post -

Come on, you dont seriously expect WP to ask him to quit his MP role right ? not after all the effort to win and keep it for 20 years. Assuming YSL is proven guilty, it is a PERSONAL affair ( and he probably is now ), AND I sensed the people at WP are as frustrated and angry as anyone else.
My opinion is that in 5 years time, YSL will bow out silently of WP. LTK will not want him to be part of the team after this character failure. For now, just let the storm slowly blow away. -

However, saying that the affair is private doesn't make it trivial. It's simply acknowledging that even though he has made a horrible mistake, we should still give him some respect as a human being. -

I doubt it will be brought up in Parliament. It is afterall a private issue per se, and it has not discredit any works in line with the WP / government work ethics. MIW is likely to let the voters judge for themselves, they will want to keep things objective, and give priorities to state matters rather than other people’s dirty linen.
