Worried parents taking children to psychologists
-
But now p3 onwards is 1:40, going to 1:16 is going to be challenging to have quality teacher.

True… Before we rejoice, that’s a practical issue MOE has to solve.
They may end up hv to source for foreigners from neighbouring countries to ease the crunch… now whether that’s still gd news or not… hmmm… -
Daddy
:rotflmao: But how to rephrase this?
The ST article today also listed out some Maths questions...
E.g. Primary 2 Maths Q
\"Mrs Tan had 30 chickens and ducks. She put the chickens in six baskets and the ducks in four baskets. The number of chickens in each of the six baskets was equal to the number of ducks in each of the four baskets. How many chickens and how many ducks did Mrs Tan have?
Answer: 18 chickens and 12 ducks.\"
I was like :siao: :faint:
How long-winded can u get?
-
i was thinking,,
30animals put in 10baskets and each basket will have 3,
so 6baskets x3 =18chickens
and 4baskets x3 =12ducks
i happen to drop P6 maths textbook, pick it
up n just flipped through out of curiousity...
after looking at it....
faster put in back if not i headache...
how will our kids cope in the future haiz -

I ask my p2 dd but she can't answer that is why my p4 jump in and answer.
P4 should be able to answer this question if the child is good in Math. Generally, P2 still hasnt grasp enough Math skill to ans this.
I believe this sch (must be a top sch) and has 80 to 90% of their kids who are really good. Not all schools will give the kids this sort of question in P2.
Parents..... dont panic! -
That’s why those abacus enrichment classes… No longer useful in Maths training.
Yes, don’t panic and sign up for more enrichment classes. -
Oh…no… after reading the article, many parents will start making a queue at the various tuition centres or start hiring Math tutor.
In fact, kids nowadays have been so occupied by school homework, CCAs, enrichment classES, can we ever get an "Einstein". Our kids really need some brain space to be creative.
Our educational are like the computers "installing programs" with a lots of "softwares" (telling them what to learn), "testing the software" setting difficult exams, hoping that it works in the society "we need to human resources", a ready product push to the market place.
Kids going to psychologists in the 70s/80s/90s are almost unheard of (usually are really serious case). But now, going to psychologist may become another necessary "enrichment program".
Why are most of our kids going overseas? Try asking most girls between the age of 10 and 20 this question - Will you want to have kids when you grow up? In fact, i didnt ask this question but was offered the answer. "I dont want to have kids when i grow up as i do not want to put my children in such educational system. I will have kids only if i can live overseas." -
Has anyone noticed? The most gan cheong or worried parents are usually teachers so they teach their kids many years ahead and the kids become advanced kids…then they become bored in class…then they have issues…then… Amongst my teachers friends, it is 100% true.

Ive been told by my dd teachers in k2 that shes slow…n would only have the basics if she continues like this for the rest of the year…as much as they freak me out…i tell myself i know my dd…and shes fine!! i refuse to believe shes got a learning disability as i know they are saying it without saying it…
